Parents have the option to purchase a $20 insurance from IUSD to cover accidental damage and theft. This is a one-time cost for the school year to cover potential incidents like cracked screens, missing keyboard keys, damaged plastics, liquid spills, and theft.

Without insurance, typical repair costs for things like a broken screen or keyboard can range from $30-75 depending on the damage to the device and the total replacement cost of a Chromebook is over $200. Our goal is to ease concerns about damage to devices and continue to support a sustainable take-home program for our schools.

Thank you for all of your support this year with our 1:1 Chromebook program. As we plan for the next school year, we will allow learners to keep their PHS Chromebook over the summer and for the duration of the time that they attend Portola.

The Mead School District has a passion to position our students for success now and in the future. We do this through a commitment to providing each student with an outstanding education, building and maintaining safe schools and partnering with our community. Mead School District is a public school system serving north Spokane for over 100 years.

Is this a tool my students need to have access to for the rest of the school year? Do I need to contact my Google for Education administrator and have this enabled for all students? Or should I just demo this on my PC to the classroom TV and discuss it with the class?

I feel the browser dev tools is a very handy tool for students to have access to explore and understand how the different elements on a page work. Some schools do block this because they feel the students could misuse this feature. If there is an effective firewall in place and the log settings are turned on for all network activity it is easy to track which chromebook is causing a nuisance. Innocent until proven guilty, right?

Chromebooks issued as part of the 1:1 program are the property of the Richland School District; each student in middle school and high school will be issued a Chromebook by the school district and will have access to that device 24/7. Kindergarten and elementary students will have access to their devices during the school day.

We live in a connected world. Businesses fully expect their employees to work well in teams and it is becoming more common to see those teams composed of people working from many different locations. Our students will leave school with a deep understanding of using technology to work collaboratively in a team to accomplish a task or complete a project.

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools will begin a 1:1 student device program in the 2021-2022 school year. All students in grades 3-12 will recieve a Chromebook to use for classroom and remote instruction. Chromebooks are an instructional resource that will empower students to access online instructional materials from anywhere at any time.

Students participating in the program are provided a Chromebook, charging adapter, and a protective case. Unless otherwise instructed, students in the 1:1 program will be expected to bring their Chromebook (fully charged) to school every day. There is no need to bring charging adapters to school as charging stations will be available in each school.

Students in grades 7-8 will be issued a Chromebook, while students at Casa Grande, Petaluma High, and Valley Oaks High Schools who do not bring their own device may check out a Chromebook from the school.

All parents/guardians must review and sign the 1:1 Mobile Device Checkout Agreement. We will have copies available to sign at the school. The 1:1 Mobile Device Checkout Agreement form is available in multiple languages:

Part of being prepared for class includes having a charged Chromebook. If you forget your Chromebook, you may contact a parent to bring it to school. If a parent is unable to bring it to school, your school may provide you another way to access your work.

Your teacher will decide when and how it is appropriate to utilize your Chromebook and personally-owned technology in class. The school will also identify Technology Free Zones, where your devices must be put away.

Students must return Chromebooks, power supplies, and sleeves at the end of the school year, or when transferring out of a school. Chromebooks must be in good working order and free from physical damage. If you are missing any part of the Chromebook package, you will be assessed replacement fees for the items at the following rates:

Coverage begins the first day of a given school year to the beginning of the following school year based on the board adopted school year calendar. For graduating seniors and non-returning students, the coverage duration ends on the last day of school.

Students who are issued devices at the beginning of the regular school year may obtain coverage until the end of the 3rd week of school based on the board adopted calendar without having the device inspected. To obtain coverage after this period requires the device and charger to be inspected by site designated staff or a LUSD Technology Department staff member. If devices are not issued during the first 2 weeks of school, the grace period may be extended at the discretion of the site administration for up to 3 weeks after device distribution.

Refunds will not be given. If a student drops from the school and returns later in the school year, the care plan will still be in effect until the expiration date of the original policy.

If a student leaves the district, the device must be returned to their school before leaving. Care plan coverage does not transfer outside of Lodi USD. If the student transfers back to Lodi USD before the end of the school year, the coverage will remain in effect until the end of the duration.

District barcodes are not to be removed and must be visible at all times. If barcodes are missing, the student must bring the device to their school for a new barcode. Personal markings and/or defacing a district device of any kind is prohibited. The device covers may contain stickers and/or drawings within acceptability of the school district policy.

Tampering or hacking of any district device is prohibited. Performing this action may result in loss of stored work and/or device functionality. If device does not function, student must return device to the school and obtain a replacement. Use of district device to attack other systems is prohibited. The source of the intrusion will be disabled.

Beginning the 2021-2022 school year, Chromebooks will be required for 6th-12th grade students. While there is not a specific Chromebook that will be required, there are several specifications that you should look for/consider when purchasing your Chromebook. Below you will find a list of required specifications for the Chromebook, followed by an explanation for some of these. At the end of this section, there are some helpful tips and links that you might consider checking out as you look around.

Please note some retailers may have misleading information on their websites about the age of a Chromebook, making buyers believe it was manufactured more recently than is actually the case. -amazon-needs-to-stop-listing-chromebooks-with-misleading-information/

Students in grades 3-12 will receive a Chromebook, as well as a charger. Elementary and Middle school students will also receive a protective carrying case. Students are responsible for providing their own personal headphones. Optional accessories include the following: a mouse, an additional HP charger, and/or any necessary HP adapters.

Students are expected to come to school with their Chromebooks fully charged, (Elementary and Middle School: in their cases). Chargers MUST be left at home. Ā Developing a routine of charging the device will be crucial for student learning.

Should a student forget their Chromebook, a loaner may be provided from the library, if one is available. Students are expected to return the loaner at the end of the same school day.

The Chromebooks are the property of Fairfield Public Schools. The Department of Information Technology will manage district monitoring resources in order to keep our students safe. The monitoring resources collects data about the activity of a student while using the device at school AND at home. There should be no expectation of a student's personal privacy from district oversight on the Chromebook or using any of the district's online applications via a login, including Chrome, Google Apps, Office 365, etc.

At school, using the FPS_WiFi, or FPS_BYOD (High schools only), students operate with the CEN Centralized Web Filtering Service for protection while online. Away from school, students may connect to home WiFi or public WiFi. However, most home and public WiFi services do not provide a filter. It is suggested that parents monitor student activity while on home/public networks.

For the 2023-2024 school year, Comsewogue School District will be strongly encouraging all parents to purchase the Chromebook Insurance. Insurance is $30 per student device per year.
