Why does a user need to jump though hoops to make Sketchup use the correct graphics hardware installed on the computer? Autodesk does not to have a problem identifying the type of graphics hardware and notifies if hardware acceleration is OFF or ON. If the Sketchup developers want to keep up with the competition then perhaps more focus should be on this subject.

Last time (about 2 years ago) I installed SketchUp on a computer with Radeon graphics (AMD) the driver had SketchUp added as default. I still prefer Nvidia, though, even if I have to go to the 3D application settings to set it up.

A graphics card (also called a video card, display card, graphics adapter, VGA card/VGA, video adapter, display adapter, or colloquially GPU) is a computer expansion card that generates a feed of graphics output to a display device such as a monitor. Power demands must be known before a proper supply is installed. For the four card configuration, a 1000+ watt supply is needed.[25] With any relatively powerful graphics card, thermal management cannot be ignored. Graphics cards require well-vented chassis and good thermal solutions. Air or water cooling are usually required, though low end GPUs can use passive cooling.
