I wanted to find out if it is possible to link my htdocs folder (which is not located in oneDrive) to oneDrive so that it will be synced without necessarily moving the folder to oneDrive. It will kind of like a copy mirroring the original htdocs folder. Changes made in the original folder will be updated in the second folder.

Essentially it is an app that provides you a nice GUI based symbolic link creation and periodically "bully"/trick OneDrive to scan and sync changes in all symlinked folders by renaming an empty file in the root folder of OneDrive.

How To Download Folder From Onedrive App

Explanation: This creates a new folder link or junction point, as Microsoft calls it, within your OneDrive folder. This link is like a pointer so the content of "H:\Documents\Pictures" can also be accessed like if it exist in OneDrive\Documents\new_folder.

OneDrive offers the File Request feature which allows you to choose a folder where others can upload files using a link you send them. The users you share this File Request folder with are not able to see the contents of the folder itself - they can only upload files to it.

I want to create a Zap that creates a client folder in OneDrive, and then populate that folder with subfolders related to the specific area of law attached to the case. I know how tag client matters in PracticePanther so they are specifically identified in Zapier, and I can get the system to create the initial file in OneDrive, but I cannot figure out how to get subfolders generated in the new folder that is created as part of one Zap.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong as I merely want to be able to have a folder created for a new client that in turn holds a folder for the new matter (presumably the client could hire me for another matter later on down the road) that in turn holds multiple folders I need based upon the matter type.

The problem is that for this to work the program must know exactly the file name. What I was hoping is that the VBA would scan that specific folder and open each file so I just removed the file name and used the same URL and used the following code:

This gives me path not found error. Please note that I do not want to use a local C: path since the idea is that the users will put files in the shared folder and will run the macro on their end (i.e. my local path might be different than their local path).

The easiest way is to Sync your SharePoint folder to your PC (In SharePoint on the web there should be an icon that says Sync). Once that is done you should see a new folder on your Windows Explorer (File Manager). Once that happens, you can scan those files just like you scan any other folder on your pc as those files are being viewed as if they are on your harddisk. This solution avoids all complications related to URL, permissions, drivers, etc.

Hi all!! I use rclone to sync files from Onedrive Personal on 2 servers and so far so good. I would like to sync the "shared" folder, but I have not had success so far, the folder does not appear in the query just "My files" folder.

I'm quite new to Linux, and have been trying this client to sync OneDrive files. It initially works for personal files, but not for shared folders. I believe I need to configure this functionality as per

I created a text file 'business_shared_folders' inside .config, but I can't figure out what "Child Shared Folder" and "Top Level to Share" mean, neither what I should write in "[alex@centos7full onedrive]" (maybe exactly as it appears in the terminal before '$'?). Sorry if the question is too basic.

The simplest way to do it is to create a 365 Group. Shared files is a part of that, and users can find the share in their one drive. I think it's called "shared with me". If they click that folder open then they can click "sync" and it'll set the one drive app to sync that folder also. https:/ Opens a new window/support.office.com/en-us/article/Share-group-files-749bc73b-90c9-4760-9b6f-9aa1cf01b403

(Sorry about that ugly link. I'm on the phone app)

If you have access to the new Teams that aspect is pretty neat too, and works similarly with some other features.

If that's too annoying or doesn't work for you, there's always the option of getting the team's supervisor to share a folder from their one drive. That's simple enough that some of my users go that way based on the simplicity alone.

I have to say, the many, many ways to collaborate in 365 is neat, but also a little overwhelming at times!

It stripped all the content from Dropbox and spirited it away into the cloud where I could not easily access it. My attempts to do so resulted in a complete crash of my system and I had to take the computer to my guru to get the mess sorted out. My instruction to him was "Get this programme of this machine". My photos are now on my computer and backed up onto Dropbox and an external hard drive and I will never try to use another cloud-based system.

I need to connect the Power Bi desktop to a file folder in OneDrive for Business, similarly to a file folder located in the c directory of any computer, and then write the data extraction routine using the " Excel.Workbook ", for example. Has anyone had any experience like this? It's possible?

The solution proposed by @v-yuezhe-msft works, however with a serious caveat: you can only connect to the root folder of OneDrive, not to subfolders, which would be the correct and ideal. To restrict the query it is necessary to open the Query Editor and filter through the column that shows the path to the subfolder, which is what works, however, is inefficient. The ideal solution would be to allow connection to one or more subfolders within the OneDrive root folder, depending on the context of the project you are working on. Even so I am very happy, because it represents a breakthrough. I'll point it out as solved, but making clear here the need for an enhancement that allows access to subfolders. I will also test the solution proposed by @yossifisch, whom I also thank for the help.

You're all amazing, thank you!

@hugoventurini Thanks very much for proposing this feature, i have voted it up Hugo. I am attempting to do to the same thing, which is to iterate through a OneDrive for Business FOLDER (and not just a single file). Is there any new/updated approach to do this now? As you mentioned, it is more difficult to edit and filter to specific files from the root , but rather there should be a way to connect directly to a folder.

@Anonymous As explained here, just switch SharePoint.Files to SharePoint.Contents and you'll be able to navigate to your specific folder without filtering. This solution is simple, fast and effective, it just requires you to make that minor change in the formula bar as this is not an available option in Get Data.

@hugoventurini,

There is no built-in connector for OneDrive for business folder in Power BI, it is not possible to directly connect to the source.

To work around the issue in your scenario, you can sync the OneDrive for Business files to local folder of your computer, then use Folder connector in Power BI Desktop to get data from the local folder.

 Lydia

Upps, sorry. I have not seen it. I will try it out first of all. Many thanks! "Btw, the sync is directly, not via local folders of a synced OneDrive in Finder/Explorer." - Unfortunately, I don't understand this.

Lets say you save a photo from Adobe Photoshop. Instead of saving it to a normal folder and uploading it to OneDrive, you just save it in the connected OneDrive folder. OneDrive takes care of the sync.

In Joplin you can choose to sync to File System. But I wanted to be sure you didnt mean 'sync with File System', choosing a folder which happen to be a OneDrive folder in the Finder.

Zwift recommends not syncing any of the Zwift file folder, as it can cause complications with how Zwift reads and writes data, and a common troubleshooting step the provide via their support team is making sure Documents>Zwift is excluded from ANY sync programs, be it OneDrive, DropBox or anything else.

I know this is an old thread, but having the same issues. Pretty annoying that you have to disable syncing and jump through hoops to get this to work correctly. As Steve mentions, the documents folder is not the place for a program to write files to. It would be good if this can be looked into.

Putting your logs and other folders in My Documents is wrong, and proposing that I change the way all the gigabytes of data are synced to my OneDrive just to accommodate your incorrect programming is ridiculous.

Select Add shortcut to My files and the folder will be shown in the My files folder. See below, the blue link icon at the bottom of the folder notes that the item is a shortcut from your Shared folder.

Microsoft OneDrive file requests are a popular feature that provides you with a simple way to collect audio, video, presentations, and documents from anyone within your organization or external to it. It is an ideal way to securely collect large files without having to use file-sharing software.

Hi! Apologies for the late response. Our engineers thinks that this may have been possible when the Insync process was killed, it may have inconsistent file data in the config folders. Can you please resend us the logs.db again but include the data/live files too?

This tutorial will teach you how to use OneDrive to share files and folders with internal and external users securely. You will also learn how to get OneDrive shared folders to sync with your Windows Explorer.

Our recommendation is to share folders rather than files whenever possible, especially when you are providing Edit permissions. In this case, the recipients will be able to add a shared folder to their own OneDrive and get it synced with their computers automatically.
