Hello, I'm using a UK vpn to access BBC's iplayer on my laptop. I have a button that says cast this to your tv, but when i do, the screen just says "ready to cast" and doesn't really play the material.

I find that iPlayer is almost unusable from between 6pm-10pm when using our Bravia TV ( due to constant buffering interruptions), other services like YouTube and LoveFilm seem fine on the TV. Also, iPlayer on a laptop (same connection) works just fine.

How To Download Bbc Iplayer On Laptop

I tried resetting only the online services first with no succes. Then I tried resetting everything to factory settings: Still the same problem! I guess it might be some strange specific problem with that particular internet address (since all other services are working fine) that I should maybe take to my ISP (O2), especially if no one else has this problem. BBC iplayer is working fine on my laptop too! Does someone know what could be different between the BBC service and the others?

Bit disappointed that Netflix advertise on UK TV and in the press as being able to provide instant streaming, yet the reality is you have to go through a convoluted process to get the service, at the expense of BBC iplayer!

Up until yesterday (4th Jun) bbc iplayer had a subtitles icon and subtitles could be switched on/off using it. Today, the icon has vanished from the Brave iplayer (win 10) and subtitles no longer seem to be available. I have checked iplayer in chrome and the icon and availability of subtitles is there as usual. I am puzzled! Is there a setting somewhere that has been accidentally reset? Has an update to win 10 broken something (though the subtitles still work in chrome). Any suggestions?

I have a very strange issue with the iPlayer client. I can download using Nord VPN without a problem on my Windows 10 laptop. I can also stream direct from the BBC to my TV using Chromecast. When I attempt to play a downloaded video the playback never starts, I just have a revolving circle on the client.

I can view bbc tv on iplayer out of uk on my pc but i cannot use my Samsung tablet. Any way around this problem?

I know bbc require using android greater than 4.1 which I do but still am not able to connect. Tablet was working on

november but not now. Will I have togive upon my tablet or just use my pc?

Just wondering if anyone is using HOLA free vpn to access BBC iplayer. If so has anyone had any bad experiences from this? Reason for asking is that I have been using HOLA free vpn successfully for quite a while now with nothing bad to report. However I have just been online and read some terrifying reports about HOLA and advice to delete immediately from laptop. Is it really this dangerous? If so does anyone have any suggestions as to what one can use free of charge on a laptop to access iplayer please? Dont want to pay as not using it much and also returning to UK shortly but still a few months to go.

Just saw your reply Carl....thank you Chris for your reply too.. So please Carl can you explain how it is that I and Chris Kite have both been using it without any problems. Is it okay if it is not enabled when not using it? Are there any free alternatives as Chris has asked too for watching iplayer please? I am using it on a brand new laptop....Also I understand that it is quite difficult to get rid of it off the laptop....

I find BBC iPlayer via my Huawei box suffers frequent buffering. Other players don't seem to have this problem. At first I thought the issue might be to do with iPlayer itself, but if I run iPlayer over HDMI cable from laptop to TV it's flawless! Box is connected to router via powerline adapter, whereas laptop is WiFi. TV is a Samsung. Anybody else had this problem or got any suggestions, please?

i am using the BBC iPlayer through my Humax HDR 1100s.

a program is playing with the Audio Description on by default. the HUmax version of the iPlayer app does not provide a button to turn the AD off.

i have tried the same feature using the iPlayer on my laptop, and the button for turning the AD off is at the bottom as it should be.

is there a specific way to access the Audio Description on/off on the HUmax version of the iPlayer app? none of the buttons on the remote control do anything.

thanks

Bit more experimenting. Windows 10 laptop iplayer app. Audio described audio can be selected. iplayer using Chrome Audio described track can be selected. In both cases casting to chromecast doesn't work (continually buffers). Galaxy tab s2 and Galaxy S7 phone. No way to select AD track and casting to chromecast also fails to work.

I have tried deleting all files and folders relating to said program, uninstalled and re installed iplayer. BBC iplayer appears to install but when I try to use it I get a Message "Installation Incomplete" restart.

I used to have both installed on my Win 10 laptop.

But it changed a couple of years ago and there is no longer a BBC IPlayer app for Windows, you just watch it in a browser.

There are still BBC IPlayer apps for Android, Amazon Fire, iPad, etc.

IPlayer Downloads is still a seperate app that you install to download/manage content that you can then watch offline.

 -how-to-download

"A licence will not be needed to watch other on-demand services, such as ITV Player or Netflix. This applies to all devices, including a smart TV, desktop computer or laptop, mobile phone, tablet, digital box or games console," the body explains on its website.

The "BBC iPlayer" Application/service doesn't seem to do anything when assigned to a policy, nor does a custom policy with wildcard URL's in (*bbci.co.uk*, *iplayer.api.bbc.co.uk*) - these may be old as the most recent post I can find from BBC is back from 2017!

I want to refine the setup though. I am using Windows XP.

Is it possible to set up iPlayer, or whichever internet browser you use to show it, to only send the "fullscreen" output to the TV? So I can fiddle and find the program on the laptop display (not the tv screen), but then simply click "fullscreen" in iPlayer to see it on tv?

Usually you just want to set up the laptop to use both displays as the desktop. Then you can open the browser on your laptop display, find the appropriate programme, then drag the browser window onto the TV and press full screen.

Typically you activate dual display by holding down the blue Fn key on the keyboard and pressing the one that has a picture of the laptop screen and the TV on it (in blue), usually F5, F7 or sometimes F9.

Rerouting your IP address can sound like a demanding task. Good news! The most popular VPNs all have user-friendly interfaces that will make the process easy as downloading and logging in into a new app on your phone or laptop.

No idea, seems odd that it will stream happily for about 35 minutes, then freeze and stop with an error. It won't restart either. I can't see it being Virgins issue, my broadband is quick enough and if I watch stuff on Iplayer on the laptop it plays fine.

The iPlayer isavailable on almost every desktop, laptop and netbook in the UK. Youcan stream programmes within any Adobe Flash-enabled Web browser.Obviously slower computers may have a less glitch-free experience, butthe BBC offers streams in various qualities to help people on slowermachines and Internet connections.

BlueStacks is a powerful Android emulator software that lets you run Android applications on your computer or laptop, making it the perfect solution for productivity-focused users. With BlueStacks, you can access thousands of productivity apps and tools without the need for a mobile device.

All devices are having a problem. So at least add a Samsung tablet and a Win 10 laptop. Also, all the wifi connected devices have the same problem. It's as if the internet goes to sleep for them and you have to wake it up by going to a website, waiting (or even timing out and trying again) and then you'll get sustained connection until you stop using for a bit.

1 - You're watching on a device that is functioning on its own battery power, without being plugged into the mains (e.g. a laptop or phone).2 - Your parents have a TV Licence.3 - Your parents' home address is your main address, meaning it's where you live when you're not living at uni.

When I try to access the BBC website from my laptop and try to use the iplayer, I get the message that I am outside the uk and not allowed access. I have contacted the bbc and they say that it is affected by an active VPN. I have switched off VPN from my settings and cleared down the cache, but am still getting the same problem. The BBC suggested that I contact my ISP (Sky) to see if they could help, but they suggested I try this forum. ff782bc1db
