Hi, me and my bf's family have a Vizio smart tv in our living room. I have no idea if it is an e, m, or p series.. Whatever that means.. And it did not come with a tablet that it apparently can come with? We bought ours at walmart. It has smartcasting that I am aware of but the problem is.. I can download Vizio smartcast app on my phone but our Vizio smart tv won't show up in the device listing... I've seen several walk throughs of people demonstrating how to smartcast to your smart tv wirelessly and I followed the steps exactly to the t.. But my problem is.. None of the walk throughs help people when it comes to the smartcast displaying "no device found", when clearly both my phone and tv are wirelessly connected to the same wifi!! So the main question is.. How do I help my vizio smartcast app find my Vizio model D60-D3 smart tv??? I have searched website after website on how to troubleshoot this elusive problem but to avail.. No solution.. So I beg you, please help me to the best of your abilities because the Vizio smart tv we have can stream youtube from my phone just fine.. But trying to stream movies from terrarium tv off my phone to the Vizio smart tv is like pulling teeth! It should not be this difficult to figure out!! I'm in my late twenties for god sake! I should not be having this much trouble..

How do I go about adding Chromecast to the tv app list if I don' have it. I can't find anywhere that I can download a new app to this tv cuz I'm having the same issue not being able to see my tv come up when trying to add a new device to the smartcast mobile app. I even tried using Chromecast on my tablet and it can't even pick up my tv when trying to add device. My tv is only a couple months old. I don't think it's capable of sending out a signal to connect to and yes everything is running on the same WiFi network.

My vizio smart tv which is now 4 years old has the same issue that you all described. It has a casting app named aircast live. I downloaded that app to my phone and when trying to connect it took me to a site that said the app was no longer supported. A shame u can't update the firmware in the

The thing is, some Vizio TVs don't have Chromecast inside them. They have Vizio's proprietary streaming device that will allow you to throw YouTube and in some cases Google play Movies but not much else. Unfortunately a Chromecast or a roku is needed. Vizio TVs with Smartcast have a Chromecast in em, if you have a Vizio with Yahoo apps, you are going to need a Chromecast.

What technology does that kind of TV use to connect only to YouTube? Shouldn't one be able to use a different app that "finds" the same connection to the TV for non-YouTube videos? Or do they somehow block that?

Thank you!!!! I have spent 3 frustrating days trying to connect my 70" brand new TV to the app. I have another older Vizio that never gave me a problem before. I was able to reconnect BOTH using these steps.

My situation: I changed wifi routers and also changed the name of my wifi. The Vizio app kept indicating my TV was NOT FOUND even though the TV and Android phone were connected to the newly named wifi.

I had the same issue and finally found a solution that worked for me. I disconnected my TV from my home wifi by attempting to connect to someone else's with a guessed password. Once the wifi was disconnected, the TV broadcasted its own wifi signal and displayed in the smartcast app setup process. The rest of the setup process worked after that.

I had this same problem. I jumped through all the hoops with vizio customer support. Had a vizio technician replace parts, that didn't work. Had a new tv delivered to me and it still didn't work. I'm beginning to think these are just $@$* TV's.

I am trying to figure out the same thing. I had my tv replaced and same thing. Cannot cast, however, my firestick and sons roku appear under the cast but not the TV. So I know the internet is working but it it not working good enough that the TV is not putting out the signal to connect to a phone or laptop. I have spectrum as well. If I use the remote and click hulu or netflix directly on the TV it works, however, when trying to cast it does not.

So after tons of troubleshooting and a warranty replacement on my Vizio D-series TV I finally found a solution. I downloaded the Google Home app and did a screen cast to the TV. After that, casting worked in YouTube and Spotify and the Vizio app suddenly recognized my TV! Now everything is working as it should. Seems the Google Home app kicked everything into place!

I figured it out - was having the same problem. Download apple home kit (if you have apple products) and manually pair device with tv (a code will come up, scan it). After you do this they will be paired and the vizio chromecast will work.

I only have cell phone data, which will throttle to 600kbps after 15Gb of Hotspot data. But I have unlimited streaming when played directly on my cell phone and casted to the TV. So thanks for the "idiots" comment.

So I've had this tv for a while I just gotten new internet my TV and phone are connected to the same one it's a 5G one from t-mobile. Now trying to connected to the Google Assistant and its not working any help would be great

I have a 40 inch vizio smartcast that is 3 years old. When I go into smartcast to watch paramount or prime I cannot get back into my local channels. I can go into the menu for the TV and it says I have the 9 analog channels but I cannot do anything past that. I did a factory reset and was able to watch them again . But as soon as I went to smartcast they disappeared again. Anyone else have this problem?

Some TVs have an app store from where you can download and install apps while others only provide a limited number of built-in apps that you cannot change. For several years, VIZIO Smart TVs allowed you to add and delete apps, however, in 2016 they changed their approach with the launch of their SmartCast platform.

The platform your smart TV is running on tells your TV how to operate, what to show on the screen and how you can interact with it. The specific platform a VIZIO Smart TV is running on depends on the model series and when it was released. To easily determine this, check the images below for reference:

The short answer is no. The VIZIO SmartCast platform offers built-in apps that you can find at the bottom of the screen. You'll see apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu and even Disney+. For a more comprehensive list of available apps, you can visit www.vizio.com/smart-tv-apps.

Besides the built-in apps, you cannot add more or delete any of the existing ones. They are created and maintained by the companies providing the online content in partnership with VIZIO. They are loaded onto your TVs screen from the provider's server similar to how websites do. When the provider decides to add new features, improve existing ones or fix current issues, they will make the changes on their server which will then be reflected on your TV automatically when you launch the app. If there's a certain app that you would like to have on the SmartCast platform, you may want to contact the content provider and put in a request. Besides the built-in apps you can also cast content from Chromecast-enabled apps from a phone, tablet or computer, as well as cast from Apple devices over AirPlay.

A small number of TV models only run on the first iteration of the SmartCast platform. It doesn't have built-in apps nor can you add apps yourself. It only allows you to cast content from Chromecast-enabled apps from a phone, tablet or computer.

There is a multitude of apps that you can choose from and add them to your screen from the Connected TV Store. You can also delete the ones you don't want, to keep them better organized. These apps are maintained by their developers and are updated automatically as long as your TV is connected to the Internet. Below you can find instructions on how to add or delete apps on this platform:

I've brought this up before, and I know Luke said something about issues with getting something in their catalog. But how much interest is there in a Vizio app? Their still a pretty popular TV.... maybe make a sub form and gauge interest?

As far as moving forward with an app, I'm willing to do what I can. I'll throw my TV up for testing. I know nothing about Vizio's system, but I do program and develop some. So, I offer my limited services.

My main Vizio TV has Google Cast built into it. No Apps. No Tuner. Just a monitor on the wall with Google Cast. I can cast just about everything I need to from my iPhone. Including Emby. Only services that I haven't been able to cast so far are iTunes and Amazon Prime Video. I can't get over the air television where I live so not worried about a tuner. It is this television -

I've got a Chrome Cast hooked up to my Vizio, was on my old TV before I got my Roku TV in the bedroom. Used to have issues casting to it so haven't tried it again yet. I got a new router (Nighthawk) and I'm thinking that will solve my buffering issues, so next time I'll try to cast from my phone to the CC on the Vizio, see how it does.

Think my issue was the way CC cast stuff. It had to bounce around the network too much and I think my old router couldn't handle it. The Nighthawk should be able to. I'm hoping. Would rather cast from Emby.

Going out today to pick up another Vizio. They might not the the best of the best out there, but i support them 100%. TV prices stayed HIGH when HD came out to the market, yes i bought a $2000 Sony CRT HDTV. Had to roll it into the house. When Vizio came into the market, the others had no choice but to stop gouging people. For that reason alone i support them.

Other than my 3D TV, the rest are all Vizio. A little disappointed that i see the other guys have a app available, hope i can cast emby to it (wife is just gonna shake her head at me), but will just have to hook up the Roku to this new one if needed. 152ee80cbc
