If you previously purchased items from the iTunes Store, you can download them to your authorized computers and devices (up to 10 total). So I have a bunch of songs that were purchased a long time ago that are no longer in my library. They show up in my library on the latest version of iTunes as gray with an iCloud symbol next to them. I can't double click or figure out how to re-download the song, and frankly I don't really use iCloud (I use dropbox) so not sure how to access them. I tried to right click and go to "show in iTunes store" then re-download using the link (where it says "you have already purchased this item etc etc") but the song in iTunes is listed as "purchased" so I can't "buy" and then "re-download" if that makes sense.

If the tracks are greyed out, that generaly means your internet connection is acting up. But you can also go to your purchase history on the iTunes Store and re-download the tracks. Have you tried that?

In iTunes go to the Store. On the right side of the storefront, under Quicklinks, click Purchased. This will be your purchase history and if the items are available for re-download they will be listed here.

In the past, you were in trouble if you lost or accidentally deleted music (albums or songs), TV shows, apps, or books (eBooks or audiobooks) you purchased from the iTunes Store.
