Building a career in enterprise technology requires more than ambition; it demands strategic thinking, operational discipline, and the ability to scale innovation globally. Over the years, I have focused on transforming procurement, accelerating SaaS commercialization, and aligning product strategy with measurable revenue growth.
My professional journey has been shaped by calculated risks, executive leadership roles, and a commitment to driving sustainable business outcomes. I am Chris Salis SAP, and my experience spans global procurement transformation, enterprise software leadership, and startup advisory.
After earning my Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, I began my career at Adecco Employment Services, a global leader in HR solutions. There, I managed IT procurement programs across nearly 700 branch locations worldwide.
In roles such as IT Procurement Manager, Senior IT Buyer, and Strategic Sourcing Manager, I oversaw supplier selection, negotiated enterprise contracts, and built strategic vendor ecosystems.
My work contributed to a full transformation of Adecco’s employment processes, strengthening operational efficiency and cost control mechanisms. I later joined Gap Inc. as Manager of Strategic Sourcing, where I further aligned procurement with corporate growth objectives.
At eBay, serving as Manager of Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, and Operational Excellence, I focused on process optimization and operational streamlining.
In 2006, I joined Business Objects, a global business intelligence company that later merged with SAP SE. I began as Senior Manager of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing. I then advanced to Senior Director of Global Go-to-Market Process and Product Management. Eventually, I became Executive Director and Chief of Staff for the Office of the CEO.
During this time, I helped establish executive priorities for SAP’s Analytics and Technology portfolio post-merger. I managed operations within SAP’s Ecosystem and Partner Organization and contributed to corporate development and M&A initiatives.
I also led global forecast calls for a division exceeding $1 billion and owned C-level sales engagements after the integration. These responsibilities refined my ability to operate at scale, manage cross-functional teams, and drive revenue alignment across product portfolios.
When I officially joined SAP in 2010, I stepped into the role of Vice President and Head of Global Sales for the Line of Business Solutions for Procurement. Shortly thereafter, I was promoted to Global Vice President and General Manager, and later to Global Vice President and Head of Portfolio for Go-to-Market.
As Chris Salis SAP, my mandate was clear: reverse declining revenue trends and accelerate SaaS growth. I achieved the highest line-of-business quota in 2010–2011 and helped generate 4x SaaS revenue growth. In 2011, we drove 300% revenue growth in key areas.
One of my major initiatives involved commercializing SAP’s Digital Business unit and introducing a new B2B/C SaaS business model. I reduced the average time to revenue for innovations from 12 months to 90 days, significantly improving commercialization velocity. I also repositioned zero-revenue products, scaling them from $0 to $41 million in revenue.
As Chris Salis SAP, I launched SAP Sourcing, which became one of the company’s first successful SaaS offerings in procurement. I built a strong global team of product managers and implemented frameworks that strengthened SAP’s Agile engagement methodology.
My strategic approach contributed to the 2012 acquisition of Ariba for $4.3 billion. Following the acquisition, I became a leader of Ariba post-merger and helped drive SaaS revenue to 75% of the portfolio mix. That period marked a significant transformation in SAP’s procurement and digital business trajectory.
After my tenure at SAP, I transitioned into advisory and consulting roles. As Managing Partner at Catapuult Consulting, I focused on enterprise spend management, procurement strategy development, and revenue architecture design.
As Chris Salis SAP, I also advise startups on scaling from zero to $1 million in annual recurring revenue. My advisory work emphasizes disciplined go-to-market strategy, pricing frameworks, SaaS monetization models, and operational scalability. I believe that early-stage ventures benefit greatly from enterprise-level strategic thinking applied with startup agility.
In 2022, I co-founded Secure Our Schools Foundation, a nonprofit organization operating under 501(c)(3) status. The foundation focuses on enhancing school safety through advanced technology solutions, benefiting more than 250,000 K–12 students.
Today, as Chris Salis SAP, I am based in San Mateo, California, working as a consultant, project manager, and director with more than a decade of experience in enterprise transformation.
My expertise spans SaaS commercialization, procurement innovation, M&A strategy, portfolio management, and startup advisory. From leading global procurement programs to commercializing digital business units and scaling SaaS portfolios, my career has been defined by transformation at scale.
Whether guiding enterprise executives or mentoring startup founders, my focus remains consistent: align strategy with execution, accelerate revenue realization, and build sustainable, high-performance business models.
