Check Out How BOPP Bags Differs

From PP Woven Bags

It has been quite a few times, PP woven bags or polypropylene bags are around us. With time, it has become a part of our life because of its ubiquitous presence. The fabric has gone through a lot of modification from its inception, however, it has still not satisfied the creative hunger of woven bags manufacturers. They are still vying to evoke something new out of it.

The BOPP bags are the new line of products coming from PP fabric. The BOPP bags stand for biaxially oriented polypropylene bags that are easy to coat, laminate and print. All these properties of the BOPP bag make it the first pick in the packaging industry at present.

Those in the packaging industry understand the difference between PP woven bags and BOPP bags, but the user community hardly know the difference between the two.

So, let’s check the difference between PP woven sacks or bags and BOPP bags.

Difference Between PP Woven Bags And BOPP Bags

At the first sight, it is hard to find the difference between both as in appearance both are same. But one can distinguish the difference by touching it. The primary difference is PP woven bags are soft while BOPP is brittle.

The other differences are

Manufacturing - PP woven sack or bag is a basic bag made with PP woven fabric. Without dye, the bags are white, soft and sturdy. With lamination they become little hard, but not as BOPP.

The fabric used for making the BOPP bag is also PP woven. The only difference is BOPP bag encompasses the lamination of biaxially orientation film. The film is transparent, easy to print and laminate. It makes the BOPP bag befitting for branding and printing, and provide the required brittle.

Application - PP woven sacks or bags has an evoking use in different industries. Primarily, it is used for storing different materials such as crops, chemicals, cement, etc. It is also used as a packaging material in the logistics industry.

The BOPP bags are mostly used in the retail industry because it facilitates branding and printing. Additionally, biaxial orientation improves its strength, gives it a glossy appearance and required strength to carry weight. It is used for storing a wide range of materials, such as flour, sugar, rice, pulses, etc.

Properties - Woven bags are called water-resistant bags because of the low water retention property of PP woven fabrics. However, a few PP woven fabric manufacturers are there who have customized the fabric and enhanced its water-resistant property. PP Laminated fabric is the result of the same.

BOPP, on the other hand, has a better water resistance than regular PP woven bags. Because of its high moisture resistance, it is predominantly used for flour packaging. Its use is prevalent because it can safeguard flour from moisture for a longer period. On the other hand, PP woven bags though being a moisture resistance material, cannot be used to store flour directly. It is suitable for bulk packaging of flour packets. In this case, it acts as a second layer of protection.

Sustainability - Both PP woven bags and BOPP bags have polypropylene as the raw material. Therefore, on the parameter of sustainability, they both scores the same points. Both bags are durable and sustainable.

Size Of Bags - PP bags, because of being primarily used for packing and storing different types of stuff, comes in a wide range of sizes. The large bags with the open mouth are called sacks, and the ones with handles are known as bags. There is another option called FIBC bags or jumbo bags. These bags are used for storing material in bulk. The other name of the jumbo bag is the 1MT bag as well.

BOPP bags, because of being printable are used predominantly in the retail industry. Thus, it comes in limited sizes, such as 1kg bags, 5kgs bags, 10 kg bags, 50 kg bags, etc. Manufacturers do offer customization in size in these bags as well depending on the requirements.

Manufacturing Process BOPP Bags

BOPP bags have the same manufacturing process as PP woven bags till pp woven fabric roll. The roll is later both sides laminated by BOPP films to create BOPP bags.

In short, PP woven bags and BOPP bags are almost the same. BOPP bags get an edge over PP woven because of the BOPP film lamination. The film has high resistance to moisture, oil, dust and dirt, and the same is with BOPP bags.

Both BOPP and PP woven bags are the best for storing material that requires protection from moisture, bacterial infection, dust, dirt, etc. The demand for BOPP bags is high because branding is possible on bags, which is profitable from the marketing point of view. The bag it open for all types of printing, and it has added another feather in pp woven fabrics.
