I noticed that free heroes are just as good and fun as paid ones (sometimes) and the only reason paid heroes seem better is because you dont have them. Many times, after I bought a hero, I found that the free hero I was using before is much more interesting.

If you're curious which free hero is the best in each game in my opinion, here is what I think (I have played all the games for a while except vengeance. In originis all my free heroes are level ten except for Lilith. In frontiers, all my free heroes are level ten except for Cronan. In vengeance, only Asra is level ten)

In the first game, I feel that the best hero is easily Gerald (the first guy). He has high armor and he can deflect attacks not to mention his good damage. All these aspects combined make him better than the other two heroes. The second best hero in the first game is Alleria (the second hero). I think this becuase she has a pet which can block ans she is ranged so she doesn't have a risk of dying as long as you keep an eye on her. Malik (the third hero) isn't half bad but worse than the other two heroes. This becuase while he does have some area abilities they are near useless as he doesn't spam them. He has a slightly higher attack damage than Gerald but worse armor and no damage reflect, making him weaker against strong enemies than Gerlad.

In Frontiers, the ranking of the free heroes go like this (obviously this is my opinion): (1) Alric, (2) Bruxa, (3) Mirage, (4) Cronan. Alric has high armor damage and great abilities so he easily deserves the top spot. Bruxa has extreme damage for a free hero and her skulls can shoot while she is moving. Mirage isn't great but she still has some cool abilities like dodging. I don't know much about Cronan except that he doesn't have great stats and all of his abilites are animal abilities.

It was hard deciding for Origina but I have concluded that the best hero is Catha (the third guy). The reason for this is that Eridan has only a 30% dodge chance instead of 60% (what it says). This makes Eridan die 7/4 times faster (normally he would take 40% of the damage but he actually takes 70%. 70/40 = 7/4). Out of the four heroes we are left with, I am not a fan of Arivan because Vez'nan does everything as Arivan but a little bit better so you might as well buy Vez'nan. Lilith sucks, you would know what I mean if you have ever used her; she can't live very long and her damage isn't insane (not for long), plus she only has 30% instakill (for a hero with other bad stats, I would expect more. We are left with Razz and Rags and Catha. By comparing each ability, I have concluded that Catha is the best free hero in Origins with Razz and Rags being second and Eridan probably third. I don't like Arivan becuase he isn't original, but he certainly isn't weak.

I have not played vengeance for very long so I do not strong opinions for this game. I do not have a best hero for this game becuase I haven't played with the heroes enough. I think Veruk (the first guy) is kind of a weak Alric with the reinforcement call and slash abilities so he might be good but he seems pretty average. I have played a lot with Asra and I like her a lot but I fear that she wont be as good in the later stages when more enemies have armor. Oloch seems like a good hero in a disguise that makes him seem bad. I have played the least with Oloch but I think he might be a really cool hero because he seems to have low cooldowns to great abilities.

Heroes are special units in the Kingdom Rush Franchise of Tower Defense games. They are controlled by the player and can be commanded to move around the map, and will use abilities that differ between heroes. Unlike any other unit in the games, heroes will gain experience through battles to become more powerful.

Ironhide Game Studio revealed its first three heroes Gerald Lightseeker, Alleria Swiftwind, and Malik Hammerfury on 8th February, 2012; 14th February, 2012 and 19th March, 2012 respectively. Following the announcement, many players believed the heroes seem to be based on certain advanced towers: the Holy Order, Rangers Hideout, and Barbarian Mead Hall respectively. Many assumed that heroes for the remaining advanced towers would soon follow.

Hero movement is controlled with the finger/mouse. You can either tap/click the hero directly, then tap/click where you would like to move them, or tap/click his icon, then direct them to any path. While the hero cannot stand off the path, they will move over the environment, skirting the edges of obstacles to make the movement from A to B as quick as possible. However, most heroes cannot reach sections of the path that are completely disconnected from the main path (such paths exist in the Rising Tides levels Storm Atoll and The Sunken Citadel, as well as Arcane Quarters and Shrine of Elynie). The exceptions are heroes that can fly, teleport, or in the case of Karkinos, move over the Sea. Flying heroes in particular can also just stand off of the path.

Kingdom Rush: Vengeance uses almost the same system as Kingdom Rush: Origins. Four standard attacks and an Ultimate Spell (renamed from Hero spell due to the overall change in alignment). In addition, Heroes now have a passive ability that is in constant use from level one. This ability usually cannot be upgraded, but some Heroes do get an upgraded one upon reaching level 5 and 10. Heroes also have some fundamental differences that do not affect gameplay. Each hero has a unique death animation and always have a quote - as opposed to previous instalments, in which most heroes go out with a simple "Aah!" or "Noo!" In fact, the only Vengeance hero to have a simple scream upon death is Doom Tank SG-11 - in this case the Wilhelm Scream.

The first six heroes are based on the six Upgrades paths. Gerald is for Barracks, Alleria is for Archers, Magnus is for Mages, Bolin is for Artillery, Ignus is for Rain of Fire, and Malik is for Reinforcements.

On the Flash version, Heroes are activated by paying 15 stars at the Hero Room on the World Map. Only the first three heroes are free, the others must be unlocked to be usable by purchasing the Premium Content.

On the mobile versions, the first three heroes are free and are unlocked by beating Pagras, Silveroak Forest and Coldstep Mines, respectively. Ten'Sh is unlocked by beating Forsaken Valley. The others can only be unlocked via in-app purchases:

In addition to these 15 heroes, three stages also feature heroes exclusive to that stage: Rurin Longbeard (The Dark Descent), The Black Corsair (Storm Atoll) and Lucrezia (Dusk Chateau). These heroes are used alongside the primary one in all three modes, always start at level 10 and have static stats and skills (like the heroes of Kingdom Rush).

Eridan is useable from the start. Arivan, Catha, Razz and Rags and Lilith are unlocked by reaching Redwood Stand, Rockhenge, Neverwonder and Shrine of Elynie, respectively. Other heroes are unlocked via in-app purchases:

It would appear that, like in the first Kingdom Rush, there is a hero for each tower type (though none for Demon Goonies or Soul Impact). The heroes are Veruk for Barracks, Asra for Archers, Oloch for Mages and Tramin for Artillery.

Most of the warlords (including Lu Bu) were defeated after that war. There were 3 remaining factions: the Cao clan (led by Cao Cao, later found the Wei kingdom), the Liu clan (led by Liu Bei, later found the Shu kingdom), and the Sun clan (led by Sun Quan, later found the Wu kingdom). Each kingdom controls a portion of Chinese land: Wei is the biggest, Shu and Wu are smaller and usually cooperates with each other to campaign against Wei. Later on, one wealthy aristocratic clan (the Sima clan, led by Sima Yi) began to rose in power in the Wei kingdom. They finally succeeded in seizing power from the Cao clan. After the Sima clan defeated and annexed the Shu kingdom, they overthrow the last Cao emperor and found the Jin dynasty. Finally, the Jin kingdom defeated the Wu kingdom and united all Chinese land under their rule.

Diaochan (5-star Purple) (not belong to any of the 3 kingdoms): unlike the other character, this girl is mostly a fictional character. She is considered one of the Four Beauties of Ancient China. She is a royal maid and cooperates with Lu Bu in a coup. Later she began a romance with Lu Bu.

Zhuge Liang (5-star Yellow) (Shu kingdom): one the most famous military advisor from the era. He helps Liu Bei (who at this time is just a small warlord) to defeat many bigger opponents and conquer their lands.

Zhou Yu (4-star Red) (Wu kingdom): the most famous military general from Wu. He played the decisive role in defeating a numerically superior Cao Cao force to protect the Sun clan. Indeed, for his role in history he should be a 5-star.

The city housed a hero character and the player's troops. Structures could be built within the city to enable the hiring of new heroes, the training of additional troops, the researching of spells, and to provide other bonuses. Heroes could lead troops into battle, could improve mines and construct buildings in the zones surrounding a city, and could establish new cities in other regions. They gained experience points from performing these actions and, as they level up, could learn trades and skills to boost their performance in battle or the city's economy.

The economy of the game required the collection of gold, common resources (ore and wood) and rare resources (mercury, crystals, sulfur and gems). Gold was used to recruit and maintain heroes and troops, and to pay for structures and buildings. Common resources were required to build basic city structures. Rare resources were required for specialist and magical structures and to recruit high-level troops. Since each city had only four mines, other resource-types had to be purchased or looted. Trades could be made with other players or with an NPC merchant. As players established new cities in regions with a different set of four mines, they became increasingly self-sufficient. 589ccfa754
