Artifact #1: Original Assessments
This artifact is a sectional performance assessment I created to evaluate middle school band students' technical accuracy, articulation, dynamics, blend, and focus during ensemble performances. The assessment includes a detailed rubric for grading, a guide to prepare students for the performance, and a self-reflection component to encourage students to analyze their progress and set goals for improvement. This demonstrates my ability to design assessments that align with standards, provide meaningful feedback, and promote student growth through reflection and goal-setting. Artifact #2- Unit Plan Assessment
This artifact is a comprehensive assessment plan from my SEED 300 Unit Plan. It includes pre-assessments, mid-unit formative assessments, and post-unit summative assessments designed to evaluate middle school band students’ technical accuracy, musicality, and engagement. The assessments range from ensemble sightreading and sectional performances to individual self-reflection, providing multiple ways to measure student growth and performance.
This artifact demonstrates my ability to align assessments with standards, provide meaningful feedback, and create opportunities for student reflection and improvement. The rubrics and self-assessment tools encourage students to take ownership of their learning and set goals for continued progress, showcasing my understanding of varied and differentiated assessment strategies.
