As I mentioned above, this group already had a White Elephant/Ugly Sweater party, so I just joined in on that, and we put on the invitation that we were doing an epic gingerbread house decorating competition.

A couple weeks before the party, we sent out details. We told them we would provide the houses and the basic candy, and told them each couple would have 90 minutes to complete their house, and could bring a gallon size bag of whatever they wanted to give their house an edge.

It was a potluck style for eating, and we asked everyone to bring an appetizer or treat to share. We spent the first hour or so mingling and eating, and then dove right into decorating gingerbread houses.

After the 90 minutes, everyone cleaned up their station so it was presentable for display, then we numbered each house, and couples had time to check out all the houses and vote for their three favorites (in no particular order). We did voting as individuals, not as couples, so there was double the amount of votes as there was houses.

In order to strengthen and preserve family relationships, the bill requires the Bureau of Prisons to house incarcerated individuals within 500 driving miles of their relatives and permits the transfer of lower-risk inmates to home confinement. In addition, the FIRST STEP Act bans the immoral practice of shackling women throughout the duration of their pregnancy, during childbirth and for three months postpartum.

For a first offense where there were no physical injuries to minors, Open House Party is a second degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 60 days in jail. FOCUS will be hosting a Colorado Winter House party this year during winter break. While in Colorado we will be skiing and snowboarding at Copper Mountain along with offering other fun winter activities during the days. Our evenings welcome the opportunity for great meals, and for students to participate in engaging conversations about the Christian faith.

We will be staying in an amazing house near the mountain. As with all FOCUS programs, there will be a 3 to 1 student to leader ratio providing excellent supervision and care for the students attending. We will be eating family-style for breakfast and dinner, with a packed lunch option for the mountain.

Students will fly in and out of Denver airport and FOCUS will provide shuttle transportation for students from Denver to our house for the week. Please book travel to have students arrive before 6pm on the 27th and to depart after 11:30am on the 2nd.
