Several POIs and Landmarks are named after Fortnite POIS such as COLORFUL CROSSROADS being named after Coney Crossroads, SALTY SUBURBS being named after Salty Springs, and Tilted Tunnel being named after Tilted Towers.
LOVELY LANE is the shortest lived POI on the map, only lasting 9 days.
CENTRAL CITY and FANTASTIC FREIGHT were only added because Dystroyrr asked for them.
BEEFY BOARDWALK was supposed to be added in Season 2 in the desert and be named BEEFY BEACH alongside KAKTUS CITY.
An ice rink location was planned to be added in Season 5 for the winter event but the island it was made on was lost.
The area added in Season 3 was originally planned to be added north of JANKY JUNKYARD.
FISHY FOREST was originally going to become FISHY FACILITY in Season 8 but this idea was scrapped and made into FINANCIAL FACILITY which was then moved to Season 7 for BOREAL BASE to be Season 8's "base location".
During the Christmas update in 2024, HANDY HIGHWAYS was planned to become HOLIDAY HIGHWAYS but this was scrapped.
SUNKEN SETTLEMENT was a last minute location because Season 6 needed at least one new Named Location.
SALTY SUBURBS was originally going to be added next to HANDY HIGHWAYS.
The Prism was originally going to be located underneath Silent Station.
SLAPPY SPRINGS used to be SLURPY SPRINGS.
MARVELOUS MINI-MALL is currently the oldest location in the map, being 5 years old.
When MARVELOUS MINI-MALL returned in Season 3, it was completely rebuilt from the ground up so it would be on grid and look nicer.
This is the 3rd version of this specific island.
The Chapter 1 Map was originally Iteration 2's Chapter 2 map back in 2022.
COLORFUL CROSSROADS is the only location remaining from the original version of this map. (Unless SLAPPY SPRINGS counts since it is a variation of SLURPY SPRINGS which was on the original version of the map.)
The original Named Locations on the first version of this map were COLORFUL CROSSROADS, SLURPY SPRINGS, DECENT DOCKS, FISH FAMILY, MYSTERIOUS MOUNTAIN, STAGGERING SKYSCRAPERS, EERIE ESTATE, and PEACEFUL PLAZA.
Peaceful Pond used to be a Named Location until November-20-2023 during Iteration 4 Season 4 where it was demoted to a Landmark and has been that way ever since.
There were 3 scrapped locations for 2025's Halloween event in Season 7, those being Spooky Springs, Haunted Highways, and Fantastic Fright.
GLOOMY GOURDS was originally going to be a graveyard named "GRIM GRAVEYARD", this idea was reused for a landmark that was added east of COLORFUL CROSSROADS 4 days after GLOOMY GOURDS' addition.
The Chapter 1 Island used to have Spawn Island as part of the playable island itself. In Iteration 2 when the island made its debut, SPACIOUS SPAWN acted as Spawn Island. When the Island returned in Iteration 4, INACTIVE ISLAND was added south of STAGGERING SKYSCRAPERS and became Spawn Island with SPACIOUS SPAWN being demoted to a Landmark and renamed Spacious Spot, In Iteration 4 Season 3 Spacious Spot was destroyed and was replaced by Tree Circle the next season which still remains on the map. INACTIVE ISLAND would become ICY INN in Season 5 and later the Inn closed and it would become ICY ISLE. Once Iteration 5 started ICY ISLE became INACTIVE ISLE which was removed in Season 2 and the desert area west of KAKTUS CITY was the spawn area for that season. Once Season 3 started a new Spawn Island was made separate from the main island, marking the first time ever that the spawn area was not part of the playable area.
SPRINGY SLAPS was originally going to be named "SLAPPY SWAP" but Dystroyrr suggested a funnier name and it was used instead.
PEACEFUL POND marked the first instance of a Landmark being promoted to a Named Location.
Season 9 marked the first instance that INACTIVE ISLE didn't act as Spawn Island.
Season 9 marked the return of SLURPY SPRINGS from the original iteration of the Chapter 1 Island 1,002 days after it was originally removed on January-13-2024.
