Behind Hourglass of Wine you can find Jacqueline and Andrea, two professionals exploring the world of wine together.
Partners in both life and business, they found a common love for each other and for wine. They started studying wine together in 2020 by beginning to study wine through AIS: Associazione Italiana Sommelier, or the Association of Italian Sommelier. After successfully completing all three required levels and final exams of the program in 2023, they felt there was still so much more to learn, so they moved on to WSET. In 2024 they earned their WSET Level 3 Certificates, excited to begin a new chapter.
Andrea is a native to the Langhe, Italy, born and raised in Alba. He studied classics and literature in high school, and earned his Masters in Law from the University of Turin. He currently works as a law professional in Alba.Â
Despite growing up in some of the most beautiful hills and vineyards of Italy, even calling one of the 11 Barolo comuni his childhood home, wine was an interest, but never an intentional one. It wasn't until meeting Jacqueline that he discovered his true love of wine. A self-professed tech lover, Andrea is the driving force behind the camera as editor, lighting and sound expert, and filming director.
Jacqueline is an American, born in Southern California. She grew up on a ranch in the mountains, her family owned lots of animals and even a small plot of Dolcetto vines for some time. She studied business at university before up and moving to Northern Italy at the age of 19. Through a series of twists and turns, she found herself working as a cook at a local favorite, family owned Trattoria in the Barbaresco comune of Treiso.
After 10 years of working at Trattoria Risorgimento, her natural love of wine finally blended with the local environment and she decided to make a career change, from the culinary space into the wine industry. She is very thankful that as she began her studies in wine, Andrea decided to join in on the fun, too!
She currently works as a freelancer, with roles including content creation and digital marketing for a US-based wine importer, and with two local wineries, running tastings and in their back offices. With one one winery in the Roero (Tibaldi) and one in Castiglione Falletto (Cavallotto), she has a unique position to truly understand the best of both sides of the Tanaro River.
Thanks for her marketing and business experience, she runs the digital communications, website, and social media for Hourglass of Wine. Her theater kid years in school and in Treiso as part of a Piemontese dialect theater company have given her the presenting skills utilized in both guided tastings live for visitors and in the Hourglass of Wine videos.
