Enrichment and MiniGrants
The Houghton Elementary PTO assists the school with providing a variety of curriculum focused enrichment programs as well as mini-grants for Houghton teachers and support staff. In the past mini-grants have provided teachers with additional supplies, speakers, manipulatives, books, seating alternatives, and supplies for Community Reading Day and Kindness Connection Week.
When a teacher is interested in applying for a mini-grant, he/she submits a proposal to the PTO describing their request, identifying how many students it will reach, and outlining how the subject matter connects to the curriculum. The PTO Board then reviews the proposal and presents it at the next meeting for all to vote on.
