This fund is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit that's used to save homeless Burkburnett dogs. When dogs end up in the Burkburnett Animal Services shelter or are found as strays they need shots, neuter/spay, and other services that will allow them to become adoptable. Sometimes this involves treating them for heartworm, parvo virus, distemper, and other medical conditions. Sadly, we find many that need lots of help to be healthy.
The fund was started after our beloved Houdini suffered horrific injuries and needed extensive care. His generous Burkburnett friends provided donations that allowed us to get him well and even have some left over. It was decided that these funds would be used to start the Burk Buddy Fund. Since February of 2020, Houdini and his human rescue friends have designated over 160 dogs as his buddies so that they could be given their needed vetting and become ready for adoption. Houdini has a fan page where we regularly post his “buddies” and receive donations. Because of the continuing generosity of Houdini’s friends, the fund is still helping dogs. Donations to his fund are always appreciated!
