With over 10 years of experience in farm sitting and animal care, I’ve had the pleasure of working with: Horses (including stallions and foals), donkeys, mules, minis, cows, ruminants, fowl, cats, dogs, exotics and rabbits.

Meet the Boss Mare

Hi, I’m Jess--founder of Hot Potato Pony Equine Services.

I launched the business in 2024 to provide reliable, compassionate care for horses and farm animals in Central Virginia. With over a decade of farmsitting experience and a lifetime of love for horses, I bring hands-on knowledge, attention to detail, and genuine heart to every visit.

I’m a proud pony mom to Huckleberry and Spud, and my heavenly heart horse, Indi. I'm an active member of Farmington Hunt Club, a former member of Oak Ridge Fox Hunt Club, a regular volunteer with local rescues, and I continue learning by shadowing a local equine vet. I hold a Masters in Business Administration with a focus in Innovation, and a B.S. in International Business. I am proficient in Spanish, and lived in Bogota, Colombia for a bit with my husband. In my free time, I can usually be found at my barn doting on my ponies (duh!).

Whether it’s daily turnout, feeding, or custom care plans, you can count on me to treat your animals like my own. In short, yes, I’m a crazy horse girl, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
