To set up a new Gmail email account:

1. Visit Create your Google Account for Gmail.
2. Enter your first and last names under Name.
3. Type your desired username under Choose your username.
4. Note: Your Gmail email address will be that user name followed by "@gmail.com"; If your Gmail username is "example", for instance, your Gmail address will be "example@gmail.com".
5. If Gmail lets you know that your desired username is not available, enter a different desired name under Choose your username or click one of the proposals under Available:.
6. Type the desired password for your Gmail account under both Create a password and Confirm your password.
7. Important: Make sure you pick an email password that is difficult to guess.
8. For enhanced security, you should later enable two-point authentication for your Gmail account.

2. Choose your gender under Gender.
3. Optionally, enter your mobile phone number under Mobile phone for account verification and authorization.

1. Tip: You do not need to specify a phone number to sign up for Gmail.
1. Optionally, enter an existing email address under Your current email address if you want to be able to recover a lost password with it.
2. Tip: You do not have to specify this secondary email address to create a Gmail account.
3. Note: You will have to verify the email address belongs to you by following a link in an email received from Gmail.
4. If prompted, type the characters in the captcha picture under Prove you're not a robot.
5. Select your country or location under Location.
6. Click Next step.
7. Examine Google's terms for serving Gmail and the Gmail privacy policy.
8. Click I AGREE.
9. Now click Continue to Gmail.
