The Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is an extensive body of skills, exploration, and knowledge that helps people make informed decisions about their well-being, relationships, and resources to achieve excellent quality of life. In FCS classes, students will develop skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that are needed for creative and critical thinking, character development, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation. Students can start these classes as soon as 9th grade at Horseshoe Bend. In 9th grade students, that take FCS, can start earning a credential. Family, Career, And Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is an integral part of this program.
The Family and Consumer Sciences offers electives for students to explore interests and potential careers in the areas of communication, entrepreneurship, event planning, financial literacy, foods and nutrition, child and human development, fashion, interior design, and many more.
