Ranches & Parcels

The Infinite Wilds are divided into parcels 100m x 100m in area. They are always square (when viewed from above) and boundaries are always in the cardinal directions. There is a 14m wide open space area between parcels. When you're in the 14m row, it'll say "Near [Playername]'s Ranch.

How Does Ownership Work?

In order to buy a parcel, go to Ranch => Homesteading.  Parcels available for purchase will be outlined in yellow; those already owned, or which are for some reason reserved by the game, are outlined in red.

Some limitations on where you can purchase a parcel:

1. You cannot build in a club region unless you are a Gold member or higher.

2. You cannot purchase a parcel next to another player unless you're buddies with them (this is to prevent crowding).

3. Parcels with special features on them, such as Epics or Cave Entrances, cannot be purchased.

4. Parcels may be found on any and all terrains and biomes; parcels that are entirely water cannot be purchased and you will be told if there's just not enough buildable space. When looking for a parcel to buy, a label will appear over the center of the parcel telling you what biome or biomes exist in that parcel, and how much of it is land and how much water.

5. You cannot purchase a parcel on an existing preserve. A ranch parcel that's been turned into a preserve is only able to have courses built on it. Regardless if the preserve is owned by you or another player--even the preserve owner cannot purchase a parcel on it. If you wish to purchase another parcel within a preserve you have created, you have to sell the preserve (you will not get your money back) and then purchase the parcel.

Note: when you see a preserve in-game with lots of parcels built on it, the parcels were purchased before the central parcel was turned into a preserve

It is important to know that any permits unlocked are nonrefundable if you later decide to sell the parcel, UNLESS you are selling the parcel to another player.

Parcels can be traded from player to player. In order to trade a parcel, the person receiving the parcel must have an empty/unlocked parcel slot. The parcel cannot have any jumps or course obstacles on it or near it as well.

Additionally, both players must be actively standing on the parcel being traded. This means that you cannot trade a parcel for a parcel. Every parcel transaction must be done in separate trades.

Preserves

Preserves are special parcels that a player can turn into an area where nobody can collect the resources on them or purchase a ranch. However, wild horses, findables, poison ivy, and essence can still appear on a preserve.

Turning a parcel into a preserve costs $100k GD and is non-refundable if you ever decide to sell the preserve. Therefore, you should consider which ranch parcel you'd like to turn into a preserve very carefully so that you do not waste your funds!

Limitations on making a parcel a preserve:

- You cannot make a parcel a preserve if it is located next to or near a club, even if you own the club. There can be no overlap between the club's region and the preserve.

- You cannot make a parcel a preserve if another player owns a different parcel within 500m of your parcel.

Wild horses, findables, and essence will still appear on a preserve. The only things that will change are the following:

Benefits:

-500m in all directions from the center of your preserve will be mostly uncollectable; certain objects, like sticks, stones, fallen logs, and fruits will be fine for everyone to collect. The general rule of thumb here: If it hurts the landscape, it can't be done :)

-Only you can build courses on your preserve.

-Nobody else may build a ranch on the preserve area.

-The region name will change, making this very personal. This is important to note because the name of the parcel being turned into a preserve will become the entire region/preserve's overall name.

For example, if the name of the parcel is 'Homestead' then the region name for that preserve will be renamed to look like "Region: [Playername]'s Homestead preserve"

-The preserve is so big, standing on your ranch will make it so you cannot see any other ranches that might be out of view. 500m is wider than the draw distance on Awesome!

Parcel Costs

Every player can buy $1,000 to unlock their first parcel slot. However, players must unlock additional slots in order to own several parcels.
