YOUNG ADULT EVENT ORGANISER
Organising a Heritage Open Day event for 18-30s
Organising a Heritage Open Day event for 18-30s
Part-Time/Freelance: 9-10 days over 4 months
Remote and on site in East Leicestershire
Horninghold Heritage wish to appoint a dynamic, young adult, aged 18-30, who is looking
to gain experience of organising events in the heritage/creative sector. The freelance role will provide between 9 and 10 days of work over a 4 month period, with the pattern of work subject to negotiation.
This Young Creative Producer opportunity is a paid, flexible, 4-month long career development opportunity open to people aged 18-30, as a positive action to address the under-representation of young people in the heritage sector and within our organisation. Participants will be paid a freelance rate for any of their time delivering their project (a Heritage Open Days event) and will benefit from additional support of mentoring, skills development, networking and being able to freely attend training sessions with travel expenses covered (as part of a wider youth engagement programme - Heritage Open Days, New Wave). As this is a development role, we recruit based on your motivation and potential and do not have minimum education or work experience requirements.
The successful candidate will be involved in creating and organising an event for
Heritage Open Days in September (probably 11th or 12th) which is targeted at a young adult
audience.
Ideally you will be a recent graduate, or young person, who is wishing to gain experience
of working in the heritage sector. You could be a young artist/musician looking to create
an event in a unique historic space. No previous experience is necessary, but you will
need to show an interest in heritage and a willingness to develop skills in event
management and promotion.
You will work with the Heritage Activity Coordinator on the event and they will support
you with training around event creation and production. This means you will gain by
working with a person who has had considerable experience of event organisation.
The venue for the event is St Peter’s Church in Horninghold, LE16 8DH, a rural east
Leicestershire village. Although much of the work can be done remotely, you will need to
live in the East Midlands area and be able to travel to the site which has no public
transport link.
A fee of £1,000 is payable for the project, to include all expenses. This will be paid on
successful completion of the event, although a portion of it could be made available
sooner on negotiation.
Horninghold Heritage is a National Lottery Heritage Funded initiative based around the
restoration of the village church. This particular project is part of the National Heritage
Days New Wave, which is a youth engagement project focused on the co-creation of new,
innovative Heritage Open Days events with young adults, it is designed to create more events in Leicestershire which appeal to young adults.
Please send a covering letter explaining your interest in and suitability for the role, along
with an up to date CV to Martin Smith at martin.stamford@gmail.com by Sunday 19th April 2026.
