My top choice for hopopower earpads is the Skullcandy Crusher EVO set because its premium protein leather and optimized noise isolation make it the clear winner for commuters seeking silence. If you own Sony WH-CH710N or WH-CH720N headphones, the blue cushion variant is the runner-up pick specifically for those who need a vibrant color match alongside standard high-density foam support.
• hopopower Replacement Earpads — best for heavy bass lovers with Skullcandy Crusher series; pick this if you want upgraded protein leather that seals out city noise without crushing your ears during long transit rides.
• hopopower Replacement Earpads Cushions — best for daily commuters with mid-range Sony models; pick this if you need a snug fit for the WH-CH710N or WH-CH720N that restores comfort after months of wear.
• hopopower Replacement Earpads Cushions — best for audiophiles with older Sony flagship gear; pick this if you require added thickness to maximize passive noise isolation on your WH-1000XM3 units.
This first option is designed specifically for owners of the Skullcandy Crusher line, including the Evo, ANC Wireless, and 360 models. It replaces worn-out cushions that have lost their spring or cracked from daily use. The defining feature here is the combination of soft protein leather and memory foam. This pairing isn't just about feeling nice against your skin; it creates a physical seal around your ears that is critical for maintaining the signature bass response these headphones are known for. Without a tight seal, the low-end frequencies leak out, and the experience feels hollow.
For someone commuting on a train or bus, this product offers a distinct advantage. The "optimized noise isolation" mentioned in the specs translates to a quieter ride. When you pair high-quality memory foam with a durable faux leather exterior, you get a barrier that dampens the rumble of the engine and the chatter of fellow passengers. You don't need active noise cancellation to feel the difference; the passive isolation provided by the thickness and material density does the heavy lifting. This is particularly useful if you rely on your music to block out distractions while traveling through a noisy urban environment.
The installation process is straightforward enough that you can do it in seconds without hunting for a screwdriver. The design relies on a secure snap-fit mechanism that holds the new pads firmly in place. Once installed, they won't wobble or peel away easily, which is a common frustration with cheap aftermarket parts. The precision stitching ensures the seams stay intact even as you move your head back and forth during a long journey. In my opinion, this is the most robust choice for anyone who needs their headphones to feel brand new again without breaking the bank or dealing with complex repairs.
The main trade-off here is strict compatibility. These are not universal pads; they are engineered specifically for the Skullcandy ecosystem. If you try to force them onto a different brand, they simply won't fit. However, for the intended user, this specificity means a perfect fit that preserves the acoustic integrity of the original device. You aren't getting a generic shape that might leave gaps; you are getting a component built to match the exact curvature of the Crusher series ear cups.

The second option targets the popular Sony WH-CH710N and WH-CH720N over-ear models. While the construction materials are similar to the first pick, featuring high-quality memory foam and soft protein leather, the application is different. These headphones are often used as workhorse devices for people who spend hours in front of screens or traveling to and from offices. The specific design of these cushions aims to restore the clamping force that wears down over time, ensuring the headphones stay securely on your head without slipping.
What stands out for the commuter using this model is the balance between softness and structural support. The high-density foam inside provides the necessary push to keep the ear cups sealed against your face, which is essential for sound quality. As you travel, the foam compresses slightly to conform to your unique ear shape, reducing pressure points that often develop during long flights or subway rides. The blue color option adds a touch of personal style, making the headphones feel less like utilitarian tools and more like a part of your daily outfit.
Installation remains tool-free, allowing you to swap out cracked or flattened pads in under a minute. The ergonomic design ensures that the new cushions sit flush with the headphone frame, preventing any air leaks that could degrade the audio performance. This is crucial because these Sony models often rely on a combination of active and passive noise reduction. If the ear pads are loose, the active features struggle to compensate, and you end up hearing more background noise than intended. By securing a tight fit, you ensure the headphones perform exactly as the manufacturer designed them to.
The primary limitation is the lack of added thickness compared to other options in this lineup. While the foam is dense and supportive, it doesn't offer the extra layer of padding found in the third option. For users with smaller heads or those who prefer a tighter, more direct fit, this is ideal. However, if you find that your current Sony pads press too hard against your ears, this replacement might feel slightly firmer than what you are used to. It prioritizes durability and acoustic sealing over maximum plushness, which suits the practical nature of the WH-CH series.

The third selection is tailored for the discerning owner of the Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones. This model is a flagship device, often used by travelers who demand the highest level of quiet and clarity. The key differentiator here is the "added thickness" of the high-density noise isolation foam. This extra bulk isn't just for comfort; it is a functional upgrade that significantly enhances passive noise cancellation. By filling the gap between your ear and the driver more completely, these pads create a deeper seal that blocks out external sounds more effectively than the stock cushions.
For the frequent flyer or daily rail commuter, this added depth makes a tangible difference. The WH-1000XM3 is already renowned for its active noise cancellation, but passive isolation is the foundation upon which that technology works. When the ear pads are thin or compressed, the active system has to work harder to cancel out the same amount of noise. With these thicker replacements, you get a double layer of defense: the electronics handle the rest, and the physical padding handles the immediate contact. This results in a truly immersive listening experience where you can focus entirely on your playlist or podcast without distraction.
The build quality matches the premium status of the headphones they replace. The black enclosure material blends seamlessly with the original aesthetic, so the upgrade looks intentional rather than makeshift. Precision sewing and gluing prevent the cushions from splitting at the seams, a common failure point for cheaper alternatives. This attention to detail ensures that the replacement lasts as long as the headphones themselves. The memory foam retains its shape well, meaning you won't have to worry about the pads flattening out after a few weeks of heavy use.
However, the increased thickness means a slightly tighter clamping force when you first put them on. If you are accustomed to the looser fit of the original Sony pads, you may need to adjust to this firmer pressure initially. Some users with larger ears might find the extra bulk pushes slightly more against the sides of their head. Despite this minor adjustment period, the trade-off is worth it for the superior silence and sound retention. I recommend this pick specifically for those who prioritize total immersion and noise blocking above all else, especially in the loudest environments.
