The Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English (WPCTE) and the English Education Collaborative (EEC) at PennWest California are cosponsoring a spring conference with the theme HOPE through JOY: Helping Our Pennsylvania Educators through Journeying Outside Yourself. This day-long conference is on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the PennWest California (formerly CalU) Convocation Cener in California, PA. This event will feature informative, interactive, and trendsetting professional learning sessions.

The Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English (WPCTE) and the English Education Collaborative (EEC) are co-hosting the Spring 2023 Conference with the theme Helping Our Pennsylvania Educators through Journeying Outside Yourself. Focus on connecting and collaborating with others to find and foster hope and joy.
Our keynote, Dr. William (Bill) Visco, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at The University of Akron, a past high school English teacher, and the 2023 Ohio Council of Teachers of English (OCTELA) Language Arts Outstanding Educator. Dr. Visco’s current research focuses on student/teacher perceptions of popular culture usage in the English classroom and training pre-service teachers to effectively use pop culture and technology to motivate, enhance, and improve student's literacy learning and as a way to develop social emotional learning practices to benefit all.
For the reasonable registration fee of only $65 for general registration and $20 for pre-service teachers, learn from some notable educators such as Dr. Laura Roop, independent National Writing Project Consultant and Past Director of the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project; Dr. Aspen Mock, recipient of the 2022 Henry Ford Innovative Teacher of the Year award and other awards; Katie Trupiano, Director of Education and Accessibility at City Theatre Company; and more.
