Youth Making A Difference

Hello, my name is Rachael Borchardt, and I am the chairperson for Youth Making a Difference here at Hoover. If you are not familiar with this event, YMAD is a wonderful program designed to highlight the youth within our school communities for doing good.

Last year, we had wonderful participation here at Hoover, including individual students, shared projects, and even entire classrooms led by their teachers. The program kicks off after Thanksgiving break, and goes until March 1, 2026, wrapping up with a wonderful celebration at the end of April.

The idea is to “make a difference” within the community, as simply or as complex as you’d like. Please see the outline for students, as well as the commitment form. The commitment form does not have to be set in stone as far as what your student will do, it just gives me an idea of the number of participants. If your child is already participating in something within the community, including at home, sports, church or activities, all of these count as “making a difference”. Students can do one thing, or several, it’s completely up to them.

Lastly, once students complete their volunteer activity/activities, they will create a display with a tri-fold poster, which will be presented at the YMAD event at the end of April. Completed commitment forms can be given to your student’s teacher, or to the office to be given to me. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me.
