If you want a dedicated solution to charge your Samsung phone while listening to music or taking calls during your study sessions, choose HOOTEK USB C Samsung; if you need a long, reliable cord specifically for charging older Bluetooth speakers and headphones that use Micro-USB, choose JMDDS USB Charger Charging.
These two products serve completely different purposes in a student's setup, and confusing them is a recipe for frustration. One is a smart adapter designed to solve the modern connectivity gap on flagship smartphones, allowing you to multitask with audio and power simultaneously. The other is a straightforward, extended-length cable built to keep legacy audio gear powered up without the hassle of reaching across a room. I have analyzed the specifications for both to help you decide which tool fits your specific study environment.
• HOOTEK USB C Samsung: Its biggest strength is the 2-in-1 design that splits a single port into a 3.5mm audio jack and a PD 60W fast-charging slot, but it does not support data transfer. This pick is for students using modern Samsung Galaxy or iPhone models who need to listen to lectures or music while their battery drains slowly.
• JMDDS USB Charger Charging: Its biggest strength is the generous 5-foot length and high-current 3A fast charging capability for Micro-USB devices, though it only works with older audio equipment and not new phones. This pick is for students who rely on JBL, Bose, or Sony wireless speakers and need to charge them from a distance.
• The Bottom Line: You are choosing between a sophisticated adapter for your phone (HOOTEK) and a utility cable for your external speakers (JMDDS). They do not compete directly because they plug into different ports.
This adapter is engineered for the user who refuses to compromise on connectivity. If you are studying late at night and your phone battery is low, the HOOTEK adapter allows you to bridge the gap between your device and your favorite wired headphones while simultaneously keeping your phone alive. The key feature here is the dual functionality: it takes your single USB-C port and divides it so you can plug in a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C charger at the same time. This is a game-changer for anyone who needs to stay connected to a teacher or podcast feed without the interruption of a dying battery.

The technical specifications highlight a focus on stability and speed. It supports Power Delivery (PD) up to 60 watts, which means it can handle the power requirements of modern smartphones effectively. Inside, there is a built-in advanced DAC chip designed to ensure stable audio transmission. This chip enables 24-bit/96kHz noise-canceling technology, which is crucial for students trying to filter out background noise in a busy dorm or library. You get clear HD voice calls and music playback without the static or current noise that often plagues cheaper adapters. It requires no driver installation, making it truly plug-and-play for your Galaxy S-series, A-series, or even newer iPhones like the 15 and 16 series.
However, this product is not for everyone. First, it explicitly does not support data transfer. You cannot use it to move files or sync photos; it is strictly for audio and power. Second, while it handles PD charging well, some users might find it does not support Quick Charge (QC) protocols on certain new phones, so relying on a standard PD wall charger is necessary for optimal speed. If you are looking for a way to charge an old Micro-USB speaker, this will not work for you. It is also a small dongle that sits right at the base of your phone, which some might find bulky compared to a native cable, but the trade-off is the ability to multitask.
This product is ideal for the student who uses a modern smartphone as their primary study hub. Whether you are taking online exams, joining Zoom calls, or listening to recorded lectures through wired earbuds, this adapter ensures you never lose your connection due to a lack of a second port. It is perfect for those who want the "best over ear headphones for study" scenarios where they need to be tethered to a power source but still want the clarity of wired audio.
On the other side of the equation is the JMDDS cable, which solves a very different problem: the inconvenience of short cords when powering down your audio gear. This is a straightforward USB-A to Micro-USB cable, but its defining characteristic is the length. At 5 feet, it gives you significant freedom of movement. You can sit on a sofa, lie on a bed, or stand at a desk while your device charges, without being tethered to the immediate vicinity of the outlet. This is particularly useful for students who set up their study space around comfortable furniture rather than rigid desks.
The performance metrics are solid for its intended category. It delivers a maximum current of 3 amps, supporting devices that require anywhere from 100mA to 3000mA. This ensures that compatible electronics, such as wireless Bluetooth speakers and headsets, charge quickly rather than sitting idle for hours. The cable is designed to work with a wide array of popular brands, including JBL, Beats, Bose, Sony, and Anker. Specifically, it covers many models from the JBL Flip, Charge, and Clip series, as well as various Bose SoundLink and Sony XB series speakers. It is a robust solution for keeping your ambient study sound system running.
The limitations are inherent to the technology it serves. This cable only connects to Micro-USB ports. It will not fit the latest smartphones, which almost universally use USB-C. It is strictly for peripherals like wireless speakers, gaming controllers, and older headset cases. If your primary goal is to charge your phone, this cable is useless unless your phone has a Micro-USB port, which is rare these days. Additionally, the connector type is round, and the wattage is capped at 15 watts with a maximum voltage of 5 volts, which is standard for audio gear but insufficient for charging large laptops or tablets.
Despite these constraints, this product excels for the student who relies on external audio hardware. If you are the type who brings a portable speaker to the library or keeps a JBL speaker on your nightstand for white noise while reading, the extra length prevents the frustration of unplugging to reach the wall. It is the practical choice for anyone looking for the "best clip on earbuds for study" setups that rely on older charging standards or simply need more slack in their charging routine. It is built for durability and ease of use in a relaxed study environment.

• Best for external Bluetooth speakers → JMDDS USB Charger Charging (It is designed specifically for Micro-USB audio gear).
• Best for multitasking (Audio + Power) → HOOTEK USB C Samsung (It allows simultaneous charging and listening via 3.5mm).
• Best for cable length and mobility → JMDDS USB Charger Charging (5 feet provides much more reach than a standard adapter).
• Best for high-speed charging on phones → HOOTEK USB C Samsung (Supports up to 60W PD charging).
• Best for older audio equipment → JMDDS USB Charger Charging (Compatible with legacy JBL, Bose, and Sony Micro-USB models).
• Best for data-free environments → HOOTEK USB C Samsung (No data transfer needed, just pure audio and power).
• Best for comfort while lying down → JMDDS USB Charger Charging (The long cord lets you charge from the bed).
In my opinion, the decision comes down entirely to what device you are trying to power. If your study routine revolves around your smartphone and you need to listen to content while charging, the HOOTEK USB C Samsung is the essential tool you cannot live without. It solves the port shortage issue elegantly and maintains high-quality audio standards. However, if your focus is on setting up a comfortable listening station with a portable speaker that charges slowly or needs to be placed far from the outlet, the JMDDS USB Charger Charging is the superior choice for its length and current handling. For a student preparing for exams who needs the best over ear headphones for study while staying plugged in, I would recommend the HOOTEK adapter as the primary purchase, as it directly enhances the core device you use most.
No, the JMDDS cable uses a Micro-USB connector, which is incompatible with modern smartphones that use USB-C ports; it is intended for speakers and older devices.
Yes, it includes a 3.5mm audio jack that allows you to connect standard wired headphones while simultaneously fast charging your device.
It supports a maximum current of 3A, which provides fast charging for compatible devices like JBL, Bose, and Sony speakers within the specified wattage limits.
