Heartiest congratulations to Akshaya Shree S (Class 8-C) for her outstanding performance at the U-13 Sub-Junior State Basketball Championship 2026! Representing the Chennai-A South Zone team, Akshaya and her squad secured the Runners-Up title — a historic achievement as Chennai-A reached the finals for the first time in 8 years and finished second in the state.

The tournament was inaugurated on 6th June 2026 by the Honourable TN Sports Development Minister, Mr. Aadhav Arjuna, and TN Finance Minister, Dr. Marie Wilson.

Akshaya’s journey was a testament to her dedication and talent:

· The Ultimate Cut: Among 525 players who attended the Chennai-A trials selection tournament, Akshaya’s exceptional performance earned her a place among the top 25 probables.

· Making the Squad: After intensive training and two rounds of selection, she cleared the final rounds to secure her spot in the Chennai A district's elite 12-player squad.

· Conquering the State: Chennai-A defeated strong teams including Coimbatore, Tiruvallur, Virudhunagar, Chennai-B, and Tirupur to reach the finals against Tuticorin.
