Frequently Asked Questions

Why La Parguera?

Why not? Its always great to explore the island and this southwestern part of the island has great beautiful beaches. Its a more laid back environment during the week, but the weekends don't disappoint with the local wanting to get out and listen to the music. La Parguera has many activities, from diving, to snorkeling and exploring the Caribbean Sea by boat.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes we are pet friendly!

Where are you located?

Our dock is located within our shop called Carmens Shell Shop in the main plaza (Plaza San Pedro) of La Parguera.

La Parguera is located in the southwestern part of the island, its a 2 or 2.5 hour drive from San Juan. If you are visiting us make sure you time your arrival right, traffic can get quite heavy during the afternoons due to construction or road accidents.

Should I Uber or Taxi if I'm travelling from San Juan?

We don't recommend this option, since its a bit costly and you would have to talk to your driver to stay since there are no Uber or Taxi services that take you back to San Juan.

It is best if you rent a car and time your arrival right since it is a 2 or 3 hour drive depending on traffic.

What is your cancellation policy?

For a full refund, you will be able to cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the start date of the experience. If extreme weather forecast on the day of the tour, the tour will be canceled with a full refund. Also during these uncertain times, any government closure dates due to Covid 19, all activities will be cancelled with a full refund.

Bio Bay Questions

When is it the best time to view the bioluminescence?

The best time to view the bioluminescence is when there is little to no light from the moon. Our booking calendar is set up so you don't have to worry about not being able to see the bioluminescence, just verify our available days.

Or call or message us so we can provide how well the bay is glowing.

Should we visit the La Parguera Bio Bay if we are in San Juan?

You should definitely visit the La Parguera Bio Bay, this is the only bioluminescent bay you can swim on the island. Its a completely different experience than the Fajardo and Vieques Mosquito Bay. Everything depends on your convenience, it is best if you are renting a car to visit since you will be able to explore more of the island.

Why should we book a Sunset and Bio Bay Tour?

Our Bio Bay tours are small capacity compared to other companies around the area. We take up to 6 people in each boat and all the attention and questions will be answered by your captain. This will feel like an exclusive and immersive tour where you will be able to swim in the bay for up to an hour, where as the bigger companies let you swim for only 15 minutes.

Can I take pictures of the Bioluminescence?

Taking pictures at the bay is extremely difficult. Now a days some phones can take pictures of the bioluminescence, but you would have to play with your phone settings. We suggest just enjoy the moment!

The newest version of Samsung Galaxy and iPhone 11 Pros, do take bioluminescence pictures, you would have to play around your settings for a long exposure shot.

Will I harm the bioluminescent organisms?

No, but they are very sensitive to their environment. But we recommend not using any sunblock / mosquito spray / perfumes if you desire to swim in the bio bay.
