The founder of Hoof & Hearts, Sammie Watton, is an 18-year-old with a lifelong passion for animals. Surrounded by a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, horses, and chickens, Sammie earned the affectionate nickname "Crazy Chicken Lady" due to her extensive flock of chickens. Throughout her school years, Sammie faced challenges with bullying, but found solace and therapeutic relief in the company of her animals.
Upon completing high school, Sammie decided to pursue studies in Mental Health and Addictions at College of the North Atlantic. In addition to her academic pursuits, she has resolved to establish her own equine therapy facility. After careful consideration, Sammie is excited to announce the upcoming launch of Hoof & Hearts, scheduled for spring or early summer of 2025.
At Hoof & Hearts, you can select between a 1-hour or 2-hour session, with the possibility of varying times upon request. Sessions are available as either group experiences (with a maximum of 5 participants) or individual sessions. Each session includes opportunities to engage in fundamental horse care activities, such as grooming and feeding, as well as riding the horses. Along with this there will be family fun and theme days! come and enjoy some time with the animals!
Equine therapy provides valuable benefits for a diverse range of individuals, extending beyond those facing specific challenges. It offers an effective alternative for those who either prefer not to ride or are unable to do so, allowing them to still experience the advantages of horse interaction. Engaging in equine therapy supports physical activity and contributes to overall health and well-being.
