Room 3206
This is my 6th year at Mount Paran, but my 11th year in the classroom. I have previously taught in Huntsville, Alabama, and in Boston, Massachusetts.
I have two kiddos, Amelia (3), and John Martin (will be 1 in December- he's a miracle baby, and I love telling his story). My husband is a pilot for JetBlue, and we have one golden retriever named Piper Pfeiffer. We attend City Church Marietta on the Square, and if you're looking for a place to go on Sunday morning, you can come sit with us!
If you ever need help, email is the fastest way to get ahold of me. I'm so excited to learn with you this year!
Weird facts about me:
I have never had a Pumpkin Spice Latte, eaten a hot dog, or had a Gatorade, and I had my first Dorito in college. It's not a health thing, I just don't care to eat them. I always say that if one of my classes ends a semester with all A's, I'll eat a hot dog; it's never happened, but some classes have come really close!
When I was in middle and high school, I was hired to do voiceovers and sing on children's worship CDs.
I used to live in Port Elizabeth, South Africa where I taught at a school with students who spoke 11 different languages including Xhosa (the clicking language). While I was there, I jumped off of the highest bungee bridge in the world, swam with sharks and seals, went on several safaris (one where I watched lions take down and eat a giraffe and another one where I watched a hippo attack and elephant), learned to dune surf, and ate a lot of unusual animal meat.
Balloons make me unnecessarily nervous. I asked my parents if I had some kind of traumatic experience when I was a child, and they couldn't think of one.
I am a huge musical theater nerd (both performing and watching). When I was younger, I had some really cool opportunities to perform on stage with Clay Aiken and for the Indiana Pacers (super random).
I love portmanteaus (my family calls them wombos- word combos) and use them all the time. A few that I think we should incorporate more to save time are below:
Gymbership (gym membership)
Nastronaut (NASA astronaut)
Snackages (snack-sized packages)
Eggcident (one time my husband dropped a dozen eggs, so this word really only applies to that one situation)
The last picture of me is when my husband and I were juniors at Marietta High School in 2007, so you're welcome.
