Heart Evangelista was born as Love Marie Payawal Ongpauco on February 14, 1985, in Manila,[1] to Reynaldo Evangelista Ongpauco, a Filipino businessman, and Maria Cecilia del Gallego Payawal.[2] Evangelista is the youngest child in her family, with siblings from both sides of her parents. Her aunt is 1960s superstar Liberty Ilagan.[3] She was born in the Philippines and moved to the U.S. before returning to her homeland in her early teens. She started her career at age 13 as a model and actress.
Heart's Charity Work and Philanthropic Impact
Heart Evagelista is a vocal supporter of Balikatang Thalassemia, an organization that helps raise awareness for children with Thalassemia, a rare blood disease, as well as the Cerebral Palsy Association of Sorsogon.
At the height of the pandemic when schools were shut down and students and parents alike where having difficulty transitioning their children to online learning, Heart Evangelista launched BIG Heart PH where she sold one of her paintings to send over 550 tablets to students in need.
The actress has been doing charity work by personally sending aid to those who reach out to her for assistance.
In an episode of "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho," Heart said she sometimes wishes she could have saved more money for this trying time.
"This is what troubles me sometimes, that I wish I can do more. You can't help everyone, you can't do it all by yourself," she said.
The Kapuso Queen of Creative Collaborations may have several connections that can help her start fundraising projects if she wanted to, but she said she chooses not to do it.
"I feel it gets complicated when you're married to a politician and I don't want it to have colors and my husband doesn't want to have color so he says kung anong kaya kong ibigay," she said.
During the episode, Heart was overjoyed when one of the people she helped from Twitter guested on KMJS to thank her.
Cathleen Chavoso asked help from Heart for her baby who was born with Hydrocephalus.
"Nung time po talaga na 'yun kailangan po ng baby ko ng panggamot sa seizure tapos pangdagdag ng oxygen tank niya. Malaking tulong po talaga 'yung pinadala niyo," Cathleen told Heart.
