About Me & My Therapy

My background starts with knowing I was drawn to this field since childhood. As is common with helping professions, the concept of the wounded healer applies to me as well. I pursued this field as a result of my own experience with addiction & long term recovery (sober since 2009), learning disability, struggles with self-worth, and uncertainty about my future. The importance of non-judgment and caring compassion have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, reinforced with the challenges referenced.

My education includes graduating from Rider University Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, going on to receive my Masters of Arts in Counselor Education with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The College of New Jersey with a 4.0 GPA. I worked as a primary therapist at a group practice for 3 years as I pursued advanced licensing before deciding to open my private practice in 2020.

My therapeutic style is laid back, prioritizing the counseling relationship over techniques as a primary catalyst for change as research consistently shows this to be one of the most significant factors for positive client outcomes. After establishing goals to pursue sessions focus on generating insights and reframing counterproductive perspectives on given subjects. I believe that the answers to your challenges are within you- my job is to walk with you as you find them.

What's the deal with the name? Honor Counseling LLC represents my therapeutic style and my personal value system. I believe in honoring where the client is at, honoring the process of healing however long or short or wandering the journey, and operating honorably in life.
