Class Overview
Marriage is a lifelong journey with your partner, graced by the Sacrament of Matrimony. One of the first steps in preparing for this precious and endearing journey is to engage in a premarital program. If you have not already done so, please contact your local parish at least 6 months prior to your marriage.
The marriage preparation program at Our Lady of Lavang Catholic Church is offered twice a year, usually during Spring and Summer. The Sessions are either 4-weeks (6 hours each Sunday) or 7-weeks long (3 hours each Sunday). The last Sunday of each session is a Retreat.
Each couple will have an opportunity to complete a FOCCUS inventory with the assistance of a certified facilitator. Information about this invaluable process will be further explained during class.
To receive a Certificate of ompletion you must:
Participate in all course lectures
Attend the one day retreat
Complete the FOCCUS inventory
Meet with your facilitator
Pass the final exam

- What happens if I miss a class?
You are expected to fully attend all classes. If you happen to miss a class or come late, then you will need to make up that class during the next program. Therefore, please come early to class and make an effort to set out the designated time for the entire program.
- Does my fiancé(e) have to attend the class with me?
This premarital program is designed with the engaged couple participation in mind. It is highly recommended that both parties fully participate in the program.
- My fiancé(e) is from another state or country, can I still take the class?
Yes, you surely can. We can make accommodations for long distance facilitation. However, the other party must still take a premarital class at their own locality.
- Can I take the class even if I do not plan to marry any time soon?
You most definitely can take the class for your own personal self enrichment. However, keep in mind that this course is tailored for couples in preparation for their upcoming marriage.
- What topics will be covered in class?
