Art Exhibition for Charity
About the Exhibition
The idea for our exhibition originated in 2022, when we hosted a small home event for Brian and Braden to showcase the artwork they created during the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. This intimate gathering included only close family and friends, but it sparked something special. During the exhibition, one young friend expressed a desire to display her own artwork, while another, inspired by our small home exhibition, used her pocket money to purchase a piece and immediately began painting upon returning home. Their enthusiasm was truly heartwarming and inspired me to organize a larger, joint exhibition for children.
We believe this event is meaningful, as it encourages young artists to express themselves and fosters a sense of community service. The overwhelming response from parents and children has been incredibly encouraging, and we hope to make this exhibition an annual tradition.
About Bring-Me-a-Smile
Bring-Me-a-Smile (BMAS) was founded by Janice Chik (mom) and Brian Chan (son) as a charitable initiative in May 2020, following the impact of Covid on Hong Kong. Our purpose is to bring parents and children together to serve the local community. Over the past four years, we have organized various activities, including:
- Donating over 50 handmade reusable masks to Vancouver Children's Hospital in May 2020
- Sharing children's videos with elderly individuals living alone through the Aberdeen Kaifong Welfare Association Services Centre in June 2020
- Donating over 30 board games to St. James Settlement for underprivileged children in August 2021
- Donating over 50 sets of Lunar New Year Lucky Packs, including rice, noodles, biscuits, instant soup, shower gel, and toilet paper, to the Salvation Army Nam Tam Centre for Senior Citizens in January 2022
