Chan started her first Ring in 2002. In 2007, Chan graduated from her secondary school and has enrolled in higher education programs in Music studies as well as Tourism diploma. In the meanwhile, she joined the well know handbell team “The embellishment Handbell Ensemble” where she started to explore the challenges in Handbell Ensemble Ringing.
Since 2008, Chan has received advanced handbell instructor trainings under tutelage of Mr. Kevin Ko. Chan has also received master classes conductor’s trainings from Mdm Debbie Rice (USA) , Dr. John Hooper (Canada), Mr. David Harris(USA) and Mr. Lee Afdahl(USA). Chan has been assistant instructor for 1 year. Since 2009, she has become a regular handbell instructor. Her school teams has won outstanding results in Competitions.
In 2018, she has enrolled in the Bronze Plus advanced performing team in the Area 7 Handbell Festival of Handbell Musicians of America under the direction of Mr Lee J. Afdahl. She joined the All-Star Choir advanced performing team in the Area 6 Handbell Conference of Handbell Musicians of America in 2019. She also joined the All-Star Choir at 2024 National Handbell Seminar of HMA under the direction of Mr. David M. Harris. The teams are auditioned festival teams which performs higher level music.
Chan obtained the Handbell Directing Diploma from London College of Music, Certificate of Childhood Psychology and the Handbell Recital Certificate of London College of Music Examinations with Distinction.
She founded Hong Kong Bronze in 2025, bringing the tradition of intensive handbell training from USA to Hong Kong. She is currently the executive committee of the Hong Kong Asia International Handbell Festival, the Vice Chairman of Asia International Handbell Association (Hong Kong) and the conductor of Hong Kong Elite Youth Ringers.
Kevin graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Music Composition from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2001, and obtained his Masters of Arts (MA) in Music Composition in 2003. While he was pursuing MA, he simultaneously completed an intensive Masters Degree at Concordia University Wisconsin, majoring Church Music, Handbells Conducting, Handbells Performing, Handbells Composing as well as Choral Conducting. He was a choral conducting student of Dr. James Nowach (University of Wisconsin). He mastered his handbell skills under the mentorship of Dr. William Payn, Arnold Sherman and Dr. John Behnke. He graduated with an outstanding result.
In the summer of 2003, under the supervision of the well known music educator, Dr Hal Hopson, Kevin also learned Creativity in Handbell Performance and Teaching. Kevin is a Handbell soloist since 2005. He has been performing in over 100 concerts all over the world. He was also being invited as clinician in handbell events which were held in Japan, USA, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. Kevin was the Hong Kong representing director at the International Handbell Symposiums, which were held in Cairns, Australia (2018) and Hamamatsu, Japan (2024).
In the year of 2010, Kevin founded the Hong Kong International Handbell Olympics. The benchmarking event provides an exchanging platform for the school handbell and handchime teams in Hong Kong.
Kevin is recently the Chairman of Asia International Handbell Association (Hong Kong), the founder and Artistic Director of Hong Kong Elite Youth Ringers, in which he is also the musical director of The Renaitre Ringers. He is the Director of Asia Handbell Music Centre, the examiner of London College of Music Exam- Handbell Examinations, and the Hong Kong Sole Representative of Malmark Handbells, INC.
