MAESTRI STUDIO
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This 6,000-square-foot custom home, located near Colonial Golf Course in Fort Worth, Texas, was designed by Maestri Studio, drawing inspiration from the grand 1920s homes of Old East Dallas. The homeowners, a family of six, envisioned a home that was elegant yet welcoming -- classic in its presence, yet fully attuned to modern living.
As with every Maestri Studio project, the design began with a sketch. From the start, the home was shaped by a commitment to natural light, easy flow for entertaining, and thoughtful architectural detailing. The stately facade, anchored by intricate brickwork at the arched entry and chimney, evokes a sense of permanence, as if the home has always been a part of the neighborhood. A classic slate roof and steel-framed glass doors at the front and rear reinforce this timeless character while maximizing light and connection to the outdoors.
The kitchen serves as the home's cosmopolitan centerpiece, reminiscent of a New York penthouse with its striking green marble island, custom brass range hood, and accordion windows that open directly to the patio. A dramatic skylight overhead floods the space with daylight, creating a bold and unexpected architectural moment. Just beyond, the butler's pantry and dining room extend the sense of grandeur, with mirrored built-ins adding depth and elegance to formal gatherings.
The main living areas balance polish with warmth, ensuring the house is as functional as it is beautiful. The parlor, with its two-way fireplace connecting to the expansive front porch, invites intimate conversation, while the family room is designed for relaxed gatherings. Upstairs, a playroom fosters creativity with individual homework stations, built-in bunks, and a hidden door leading to a playful powder room. Each bedroom is uniquely curated, from the color-drenched guest retreat to the sports and Western-inspired children's suite. The daughter's bedroom is a joyful and whimsical escape, featuring a custom headboard that spans the wall and playful patterns that bring a sense of fun and personality to the space.
The primary suite is a masterclass in layered materials and refined comfort, featuring custom millwork, an opulent bath with intricate stone inlays, and a dressing room that feels like a boutique. Meanwhile, the study takes on a moody sophistication, wrapped in deep green with a mix of antiques and contemporary furnishings -- an ideal retreat for quiet moments or a cocktail by the stone fireplace.
Throughout the home, a curated art collection ties the space together, reinforcing Maestri Studio's holistic approach to architecture and interior design. With its balance of tradition and innovation, grandeur, and intimacy, this home stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design.
