On 20 July 2024, Homesland Animal Shelter hosted the impactful "Paws to Care" event in collaboration with SEGi College Subang Jaya at Pertubuhan Kebajikan Haiwan Selangor in Puchong. Organised by SEGi’s School of MPU, the event aimed to foster compassion, empathy, and responsibility towards animals, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG 15: Life on Land).
Through this initiative, participants, including SEGi students, engaged in hands-on volunteer activities at the shelter, interacting with the rescued cats and dogs. The event not only benefited the animals but also provided therapeutic and educational value to the volunteers. Participants reported enhanced personal growth, cultivating qualities such as empathy, compassion, and a sense of purpose.
The event served as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare and the role of shelters like Homesland in providing care and rehabilitation to abandoned and stray animals. Homesland Animal Shelter takes immense pride in its remarkable achievement of rescuing over 300 dogs and 80 cats, providing these animals with a second chance at life. Each rescue represents a story of survival, compassion, and hope, as the shelter works tirelessly to save animals from abandonment, abuse, and life on the streets.
Every animal brought to the shelter receives the care they need, including medical attention, nourishment, and rehabilitation. Beyond providing a safe haven, Homesland strives to find loving forever homes for these animals, ensuring they live the rest of their lives surrounded by care and affection.
This milestone underscores Homesland’s dedication to its mission of improving the lives of stray and abandoned animals, creating a community where every animal matters. Through these efforts, the shelter not only transforms the lives of the animals it rescues but also inspires others to take action and make a difference.

Homesland Animal Shelter has shown unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of its rescued animals by initiating a vaccination drive for nearly 300 fur kids—both dogs and cats. Vaccination is a vital step in safeguarding these animals against life-threatening diseases and ensuring their improved quality of life while they await adoption into loving homes.
Despite facing financial hardships, Homesland prioritized this effort, incurring significant medical expenses of RM 8,500 to vaccinate the animals. This monumental task required not only financial resources but also the shelter’s dedication to preventing the spread of diseases that could compromise the health of all its residents.
The shelter’s perseverance was evident as it negotiated with veterinarians to continue the vaccinations even amidst delayed payments, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to these vulnerable lives. Homesland’s ability to achieve this milestone reflects the generosity of its supporters and the collective effort to provide these rescued animals with a safe, healthy environment.
This vaccination drive stands as a testament to Homesland Animal Shelter's mission to fight for the lives of abandoned animals, protecting them from disease and giving them a chance to thrive. It also emphasizes the shelter’s urgent need for continued donations and support from the community to sustain its lifesaving efforts.
Every vaccination given represents hope and love for these furry companions, ensuring they are not only safe but also one step closer to finding their forever homes.
Homesland Animal Shelter proudly celebrates the successful upgrade of its facilities, including repairs to the floors, fences, and doors, ensuring a safer and more comfortable home for its rescued cats and dogs. This significant milestone was made possible through the generous support and donations from kind-hearted individuals and the community.
The repairs have transformed the shelter into a secure and welcoming space, allowing the animals to roam freely on smooth, flat ground and play safely within sturdy fences. These improvements have greatly enhanced the living environment, providing the furry residents with not only safety but also the freedom to thrive and enjoy life.
Thanks to this collective effort, the animals now experience the joy of running and jumping without worry, and the peace of restful nights in a well-maintained shelter. The sight of happy wagging tails and contented purrs reflects the profound impact of this project on their well-being.
Homesland Animal Shelter extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this achievement.
