Clara Coppola Prior to homeschooling my three children for the last several years, I taught public school. I have a degree from SUNY Geneseo in Education with a focus on Natural Science and a minor in Biology.

Sue DeKoninck has been a sewing instructor for many years. She has a Home Economics teaching degree from Michigan State and has taught sewing at all age levels in both private and public school settings. She taught Apparel Construction through Lansing Community College, Mason Middle School, and even Joann Fabrics sewing and craft classes. 

Cynthia (Thia) Eades (Sign Language) I am a retired Audiologist. I attained my graduate degree at Gallaudet University (University for the Deaf) in 1991. I have been certified ASL III (conversational fluent/interpreter), and fluent in ESL and PSL with some knowledge of Cued Speech and Foreign Signs. I was a interpreter in the Virginia Beach Schools for one year and have been a sign language interpreter in the medical settings where I was employed, during the last 20+ years. I moved to Howell in 2014 after retiring from the US Air Force. 

(Quilting) I have been sewing & quilting for 40+ years. I have made small decorative quilts to queen size bed quilts. I love to make my own patterns, projects, and artistic variations of traditional quilt blocks & patterns. 


Donna Engstrom taught elementary and secondary art for 14 years at the Charyl Stockwell Academy. She owned a retail art store for eleven years. Donna continues to share her

love for art and has classes at the CoBACH building in downtown Brighton.

She is a self-taught artist, a signature member of the National Collage Society, and a founding member of the Brighton Art Guild.

Bethany Grosvenor Alongside a background in tutoring and childhood education, I have a bachelors from U of M in Business with a concentration in Accounting. I have 5 years experience tutoring and 3 years teaching young children in a classroom setting. 

Krista Smith has a background in outdoor education and youth program development. She has been homeschooling her children for several years. 

Margo Veenstra (MIA Leader) started Minds in Action and has enjoyed teaching and interacting with students and families. She has been homeschooling her children for many years and has taught at her church and in her community since high school. Margo has her degree in Social Work and experience working with children and adults with all levels of abilities.
