Xiaohan Zhang is a senior research economist and CED research lead at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. As the research lead of the Community Engagement and Development department, she works on issues related to the formation of human capital, returns to human capital, and household finance.
She has been published in scholarly journals such as Review of Economics and Statistics, World Development, and Regional Science and Urban Economics. Her research has been covered by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Reuters, the Financial Times, and Business Insider, among other major outlets. She also served as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Population Economics, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, and Real Estate Economics.
Zhang holds a PhD in economics from the University of California, Davis. Prior to joining the Dallas Fed, she was an associate professor of economics at California State University, Los Angeles.
