Homelessness has been an issue throughout the country and world for many years, and it is continuing to get worse every year in the United States. The reason we decided to focus on this topic was because each of us have seen the effects that homelessness can have on someone and understand that there is a lot more that goes into then what the majority of people think. Each of us were able to take time to serve at the Catholic Community Service Organization and at Volunteers of America. We were able to get a hands-on experience and get a better understanding of what people go through while while serving at these locations.
Inspiration for our profiles were found in different ways. One of them was by seeing people go without food or shelter during the colder months and wondering what we could do to help. Another was learning about teens who were kicked out of their homes or their parents abandoning them. Lastly, it was simply realizing the fact that each of us are fortunate to have all that we have and we'd be able to make a different for a lot of people. We all experienced different volunteer opportunities and learned different things.
Being able to go out into the community helped all of our writing processes and inspiration in many different ways. Being able to serve in those environments where you can experiences things hands-on really strengthened our understanding of this topic as well as making us more aware of those who are homeless. It is important to know that there are people who do not have the simple necessities of life and that we can make a difference whether it is financial or through service.
This website highlights the different work of the authors. We all wrote about the same main topic but each focused on different ideas. It has a simple layout but the work and research of the authors will help the reader understand the issues presented. This is effective because it brings more light and understanding on how we can use this in our lives and try to make a difference.
