#5 We move toilets in all 4 directions.

In my experience, over 50% of the toilets in the average home are loose, which isn’t simply an inconvenience–it can cause costly damage.

An unsteady toilet can compromise the wax ring and let water leak onto the subfloor. Left alone, this can cause mold, wood rot, and damaged floor covering. Loose bolts can make things worse, adding to the risk of leaks and damage.

Here’s an unfortunate truth: Home inspectors don’t have to remove the main electrical panel cover.

But we do it anyhow because that buzzing box of high-voltage tends to cause more “DIY disasters” than almost any other part of the house. Double-tapped breakers, missing premises, careless wiring, loose connections, rust– if something can go wrong, it likely will inside that panel.
