After the Chucky house, perhaps the most fun I had at Halloween Horror Nights this year was Terror Tram: The Exterminatorz. Terror Tram often leans into humor along with horror, and this year there's a sarcastic environmental message thrown into this mix, as well. The tram ride provides just enough time to set up the first walk-through scarezone, at the Bates Motel set, before we pass the War of the Worlds set then head across the street for our walk through the Jupiter's Claim set from Jordan Peele's "Nope." This year, there's a mash-up with the Tethered from Peele's "Us" on the faux theme park streets, as well.

For all fans of horror and filmmaking we're back in 2023, bigger and better than before! We're playing two days - Saturday Nov 4 to Sunday Nov 5 - at our new home, the wonderful JAXX THEATRE, 1089 N. Oxford Ave., Hollywood. This year we're partnering with our sister festival, B&B, for the entire weekend with star-studded premieres and Hollywood career celebrations (names to be announced shortly). We have our own coffee bar the entire weekend - for networking and relaxing between (and during) events - and we also plan to honor a celebrity star with the prestigious PRICE AWARD and raise funds for the VINCENT PRICE ART MUSEUM.

More details and tickets will be announced in the coming weeks.

Nadia Latif is a theatremaker and film director based in London, UK. She has directed a number of short films, most recently the horror White Girl, which is forthcoming from BFI. She is currently working on a feature-length horror film.

In a way, this makes sense. A recent Guardian article describes how women have historically been drawn to the genre. Many beloved horror films have strong female leads: Carrie, The Descent, and The Witch, to name a few.

For decades, sexually active women in horror movies tend to die first as punishment for sexual transgression. We see this in Halloween, Friday the 13th, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

"It's very true," he admitted. "We're both in the business of scaring people. I do it with TV shows and films, and he does it live, and the one thing that bridges the gap between those two things is horror movies. We've had a lot to discuss over the years."

Something else that's a departure for the partners is Blumhouse: Behind the Screams, which is described as "an original concept that showcases a selection of Blumhouse horror films" and "breaks the fourth wall." As well as an elaborate show, it also offers fans an up-close look at authentic props, costumes, and character encounters. It features upcoming releases, The Exorcist: Believer and Five Nights at Freddy's, and fan-loved hits like The Black Phone.

Blumhouse Productions recently got a scare of its own when Taylor Swift announced the release of her film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, based on her blockbuster shows, would be landing in theaters on Friday, October 13, the exact date that The Exorcist: Believer was due to open. The supernatural horror film quickly shifted to Friday, October 6, 2023.

Visited just this past weekend it is the largest indoor haunted attraction in the state and well worth the money . If you're a fan of horror films it's right up your alley it's just like walking through a film set from the costumes , sets, and make up , it's a visual playground. The only haunted attraction produced by people who have a connection to the film industry. Will be going back again next weekend taking more friends . A incredible bargain at just $25 for what you get to experience . And all the parking is free unlike other haunts in the area. Make sure you check out the museum displaying some of the actors the brothers have worked with!! Very impressive!!

I've been to many haunts in the triad area and all claim to be the scariest. The Original Hollywood Horror Show is by far the most frightening! The Horror Show is not only unique but highly detailed with various makeup effects and characters. The show is nothing like a walk through the woods but more like a walk through a series of terrifying film sets, each with fully interactive characters and prosthetic appliances not store bought masks. The haunted attraction has something for everyone and if you enjoy horror, Halloween, or art this is the place for you!

Because the September 11 attacks occurred so close to Halloween Horror Nights XI, Universal made many changes to tone down the event. Much gore was scrapped from the event, and blood was replaced with green "goop". The names of several houses, scare zones, and shows were changed. The original icon character "Eddie" was scrapped. Edgar Sawyer was conceived as a demented, chainsaw-wielding horror movie buff that had been disfigured by a fire. He was supposed to be a threat to previous icon Jack and the tagline "No more clowning around" was used, and seen on early advertisements and merchandise. Eddie was ultimately removed from the event before it began, although he was still appearing on that year's logo and merchandise with the official "I.C.U." tagline. As a hurried replacement, Jack would return along with a line of merchandise bearing the tagline "Jack's Back." Eddie's back-story was changed, and his name was changed to Eddie Schmidt, Jack's younger brother.[16] The event again ran for 19 days, admission was $48, with five haunted houses. The dual house was in Soundstage 22.[17][18]

In 2011, Universal Studios Singapore began their Halloween Horror Nights event. There was one haunted house, the event ran seven nights, and admission was S$60.00.[47][48] Universal Studios Singapore Halloween Horror Nights 2 in 2012, ran seven nights, had three haunted houses, with admission at S$68.00.[49][50] By 2015, Singapore's Halloween Horror Nights 5 had grown to four haunted houses, three of which were designed using local Singaporean horror legends and myths.[51] Singapore's Halloween Horror Nights 6, in 2016, featured five haunted houses, ran 16 nights, with admission at S$69.00.[52]

Despite it not being horror, the Death Eaters are some of the best stuff going at Universal Parks during the Halloween season. This could be 5 stars if they were allowed to roam the entirety of Hogsmeade, instead of regulated down the alleyway.

Meanwhile, married couple of ten years, Dewey (possibly David Schwimmer) and Gale Riley (now portrayed by a new actress) are thrown into the troublesome Los Angeles scene as a horror movie based on all their lives is being filmed.

Sean Fennessey, editor-in-chief at The Ringer and host of the Big Picture podcast, wrote about the rise of the horror movie industry in Hollywood. Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal spoke with Fennessey about his reporting; the following is an edited transcript of their conversation.

Many actors get their start in horror movies, and many actors finish out their careers by starring in them as well. In the golden days of Hollywood, horror films were considered B-movies, and many of the biggest stars avoided them.

However, the horror genre became more acceptable over time, and Hollywood legends would often make appearances. Especially later in their careers, it was common for older screen icons to play bit parts or even lead parts in horror films, and they would often bring star power to movies with lower budgets.

In the 1970s, disaster films were all the rage and fans were packing theaters to watch cities get destroyed by various natural disasters. The Swarm came at the tail end of the '70s and exemplified everything about the disaster horror films of the era. A gigantic swarm of Africanized bees attacks a major city and the government consults various scientist to fight them.

Director Jacques Tourneur had made a name for himself with his atmospheric and stylized horror films. The Comedy of Terrors had everything that made Tourneur's work excellent and it was also his first foray into humorous territory. The film tells the story of a crooked undertaker who is going out of business because he can't get any customers. Out of desperation, the undertaker decides to start making his own customers and business begins to boom. be457b7860
