The larynx is a organ which contain vocal folds. The vocal folds are muscles and they vibrate when oxygen passes through them. The vibrations then create sound waves.
Breathing is what gives the voice its power, as it can affect how long and fast you are able to speak for, without needing to take a breath and how strong the voice is when speaking. If you don’t have proper breath control, it can cause tension in the larynx which leads to straining your voice and tightness of the throat.
The diaphragm is a muscle that sits below the lungs which helps to control the flow of oxygen when breathing. This allows for proper breath control to ensure that the voice stays consistent when speaking.
The intercostal muscles sit inside and outside the rib cage. They are used when breathing by expanding and contracting the space in between the ribs where, it allows for proper air flow.
Having a slumped posture with your head down towards your chest will put pressure on the larynx and shorten your neck. This will make it more difficult for articulation and creation of tone.
Articulation is where you speak words clearly where the vocal tract articulators; the lips, tongue and soft palate adjust the sound accordingly
Vocal tone is the timbre and quality of your voice. It is determined by the shape of your vocal cords and the resonance of the vocal tract which, is affected as oxygen moves through them.
I can use various tones, pitches, accents and tempo to create a character and control the muscles in my face in order to create a specific sound I want for that character.
These are the exercises I do in order to prepare my voice when speaking lines.
This is my evaluation for what I have learned and what I have improved on.
