Reset

Reset means to move something back to an original place or position; to put (a broken bone) back in the correct position for healing; to put (a gem) into a new piece of jewelry. Have you considered the need to press the reset button in your life and seek God for refreshing, renewal or revival? Life can move us out of our original place or position with God without warning. Situations and circumstances can force us into a residency or place of doubt without allowing us to sign a lease. Trials and tribulations can leave us spiritually, emotionally and sometimes physically broken or disjointed. The day to day priorities of life can cause us to lose the strength we once had to clasp tightly to our gems of faith.

Have you watched the news lately? Headlines are filled daily with stories of mass shootings, terrorist attacks, war, death, homicide and suicide. Yet, the call to repentance is not once tapered at the bottom of the screen, but rather the latest sport scores or stock market trends. It seems that many things are out of place or position, broken or lost. As I began to think and thank God for his restoration, redeeming and reconcilable power my heart is filled with hope and peace. The word God declares in Romans 12:2—And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This scripture resonates with me as I encourage you to press the reset button on your family circumstances, marriage, spiritual life, prayer life, commitments or choices. Reset simply means to repent and ask God to restore, reconcile, renew relationships, your passion for Him, your level of commitment to the things of God and revisit the place of your first love (Revelation 2:1-7). He can heal the broken places and cause them to be set in their original position (Ezekiel 37:1-14) for His glory. II Corinthians 4:7 encourages us to know that –we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
