Derek is a longstanding and respected member of Holbrook Motorcycle Sports Club, known for his reliability, generosity and support of fellow riders.
In 2019, Derek was involved in a serious accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury.
The motorcycle and wider community rallied around Derek and his family.

From that support, the Derek Ride grew.
Each year, club members come together for a weekend of riding, friendship and support, with Derek choosing a person or family facing difficult circumstances for the ride to support.
The ride continues the same spirit the motorcycle community showed Derek and his family after his accident.
