Underground Cocktail Bar London

About Us

A hidden bar in London, HOKUS POKUS serves inventive cocktails, herbal concoctions and exquisite libations that draw inspiration from the local heritage of Camden, Bloomsbury and King's Cross.

The design story and name are derived from the numerous quack physicians of the 19th century who jumped at the chance to use the newest scientific and chemical advancements to create "miracle cures."  One of the most well-known was James Morrison, who founded the "British college of health" a few doors away from us in 1828.

Based on plant chemicals he made into pills to be taken with lemonade, he claimed to have discovered a panacea for all illnesses.

Even though Greg 'Doc' Chudzio and his crew still practise alchemy today, we prefer that our botanicals be distilled, infused, pickled or smoked for their own tasty delight. Regardless of the weather, we are sure that our elixirs and potions will lift your spirits, even though we can not guarantee any health benefits.

The British designer and artist Henry Chebaane has once again created a distinctively chic and fantasy location. To create a really "out of this world" experience, he has boldly combined two centuries' worth of British esoteric literature with Victorian engineered elements, apothecary furnishings, theatrical lighting, and retro-futuristic steampunk architecture.

If you're searching for a unique local spot with exceptional mixology and hospitality for a date, get together with friends, or just hang out, this is the place for you.
