2025.6  M1 student Jasmine Satake’s project TouchCanvas：温度と振動のデザインが可能な触覚創作・共有プラットフォーム has been selected for 福岡未踏2025!

TouchCanvas is an innovative platform that allows users to design and share tactile experiences using temperature and vibration. We're thrilled to see Jasmine’s innovative work recognized by such a prestigious program!

2025.6 M2 student Kameyama Naoki received travel support from Kyushu University (九州大学　国際会議等参加支援) for his attendance at WHC 2025 in Korea.

2025.6 Prof. Ho will deliver an online keynote speech at the workshop "Speculating the Future(s) of Mediated Social Touch Technology" to be held on July 8th as part of World Haptics 2025. 

2025. 4 Ho Lab welcomes new B4 students: Kousuke Nakasawa, Yuto Tanabe, Yuya Yamamoto.

2025.4 Prof. Ho contributed a chapter to the newly published Handbook of Sensory and Perceptual Psychology (3rd Edition), 感覚・知覚心理学ハンドブック 第三版, released by Seishin Shobo in March 2025. She authored Chapter 3, "Thermal Sensation," in Part IV: Touch. This comprehensive handbook is a key reference in the field of basic psychology and sensory perception. 

2025.3 We are pleased to share that Master’s graduate student Aika Yamashita has received the Kyushu University Student Award this year in recognition of her outstanding achievements in research activities. Congratulations to Aika for this well-deserved honor! 

2025.3 Dr. Lynette Jones (MIT) and Prof. Ho's review paper "Tactile–Thermal Interactions: Cooperation and Competition" has been published in IEEE Transactions on Haptics (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10918829).  

2025.2 Our collaboration with Kajimoto Lab, The University of Electro-Communications, received the best presentation award at SICE SI2024.

2024.10 Prof. Ho gave an invited talk "Cutaneous Sensory Processing and Its Applications: From Situation Recognition to Affective Communication " at Prof. Karon Maclean's Sensory Perception & Interaction, Research Group (SPIN) at the University of British Columbia.

2024.10 Prof. Ho gave an invited talk "Enhancing Co-Presence and Communication Through Haptics" at the "Affective Haptics for Well-Being" workshop, AsiaHaptics 2024.

2024.10 Kakagu Komazaki from NTT Social Informatics Laboratories visited our lab and gave a guest lecture at the Virtual Reality class.

2024.8 Our study in collaboration with Dr. Lynette Jones from MIT and Dr. Masahiko Terao from Yamaguchi University "Perceiving Synchrony: Determining Thermal-tactile Simultaneity Windows" " has been published as a regular paper for IEEE Transactions on Haptics. 

2024.8   The study of Ho Lab M2 student, Aika Yamashita, ”Enhancing the sense of togetherness with vibrational feedback in virtual communication ” has been accepted as a conference poster for the 2024 IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR).

2024.8   The study in collaboration with Prof. Jin Ryong Kim ”Wetness Illusion in Mid-Air” has been accepted as a conference paper for the 2024 IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR).

2024.8   The study in collaboration with Sosuke Ichihashi and Dr. Noura Howell, "Hydroptical Thermal Feedback: Fast-Switching, Spatial Thermal Feedback Using Visible Lights and Water " has been accepted as a paper by The ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology (UIST 2024). 

2024.8 Ho Lab and Ishii Lab held the Open Campus 2024 event "Immersive Experience through the Interaction of Visuals, Sound, and Vibration"「映像、音、振動の相互作用による臨場感体験」. 

2024.8 Dr. Hsin-I Chao from National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan visited our lab and introduced her research on art education with touch for the blind.

2024.8 Prof. Ho starts to serve as the associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Haptics 

2024.7 Dr. Shao-Min (Sean) Hung from Waseda Institute for Advanced Study, Waseda University visited our lab and talked about "Is consciousness required to integrate crossmodal information?"
