Hog Log (“the App”) is a mobile application that allows users to locally record fishing catches (“hogs”). This Privacy Policy describes how the App collects, stores, uses, and protects your information. Hog Log is designed with privacy in mind and does not collect or transmit any personal data to external servers.
All data entered into Hog Log is stored locally on your device only. The developer does not receive, host, or access your data in any way.
When you add a catch, the App stores the following information on your device using Apple’s SwiftData local storage system:
Fish type (text)
Length in inches (number)
Date of catch
Location name (text)
Optional latitude/longitude coordinates
Notes
Optional water temperature (°F)
Fly type used
Optional photo of the catch (stored as an external file in the App’s sandbox via SwiftData)
The App also stores a local user profile containing:
Name
Optional profile photo (stored externally in the App’s sandbox)
These details remain fully local and never leave your device unless you choose to export or share them.
Hog Log uses SwiftData, Apple’s local device database system, to save your information in the App’s secure sandbox:
Data is stored in Library/Application Support within the App’s container.
Photos marked for external storage are stored as files managed by SwiftData.
No cloud services, servers, or networks store your data.
Temporary files created for CSV export exist only in iOS's temporary directory and are deleted automatically.
The App reads and writes data using SwiftData’s secure on-device mechanisms. Your data is used solely to:
Display your logs
Allow you to create, update, and delete entries
Generate optional CSV exports you choose to share
No analytics, tracking, profiling, or advertising techniques are used.
If you export your catches as a CSV:
A temporary file is generated locally.
You choose how, where, or with whom to share it.
The App does not upload or transmit this file anywhere.
To fully use Hog Log’s features, the App may ask for certain iOS permissions:
Used to take photos of catches and for your profile photo.
Photos remain stored locally inside the App’s sandbox.
Used to choose an existing photo for a catch or your profile.
Used to autofill coordinates for catch logs.
Location data is stored only in your local database and never transmitted.
Hog Log does not track your location in the background.
Hog Log does not use:
Third-party SDKs
Analytics
Advertising frameworks
External tracking technologies
Remote servers
The only Apple framework used is MapKit, strictly to provide map-based location features. MapKit may receive location queries from your device per Apple’s normal system-level behavior, but Hog Log does not send any additional data.
All data remains on your device until you remove it.
You may delete individual logs or your profile at any time within the App.
Because all data is stored locally, deleting the App from your iPhone deletes all data permanently.
No copy of your data exists anywhere else.
Hog Log is rated 4+ on the Apple App Store and does not contain harmful content.
The App does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information outside the user’s device.
Hog Log relies on Apple’s secure application sandboxing and SwiftData storage.
No data is transmitted externally, reducing risk of third-party exposure.
This Privacy Policy may be updated in the future as new features are added to the App, including potential cloud sync or other optional data services. Any changes will be reflected in an updated version of this policy.
