About Me
I am Hoashalarajh Rajendran, an Electrical Engineer from Trincomalee, Sri Lanka—a region known for its rich cultural heritage and long history. I was educated at T/R.K.M. Sri Koneswara Hindu College, where dedicated teachers laid the foundation for my academic and personal development.
I later earned my B.Sc. Engineering (Hons.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka’s leading technical university. I graduated with strong academic standing, complemented by professional internships at leading core electrical engineering companies in Sri Lanka.
Following my undergraduate studies, I completed a Master’s degree with a research focus on Human–Robot Interaction, an experience that significantly strengthened my analytical thinking, research methodology, and intellectual independence. I remain deeply grateful to the University of Moratuwa and its faculty for shaping my ability to think rigorously and critically.

Research on Proactive robotic system for enhancing human-robot interaction, focusing on domestic service robots
Research component 01: Investigate user behavior patterns to initiate and maintain personalized interactions, considering modalities such as vision, voice, and text, while adapting to evolving user preferences
Outcome: System for identifying the emotion intensity levels from voice response of the human, proposed system is useful in evaluating the satisfaction level of users after a service robot has provided any service.
Outcome: Development of proactive interaction manager for providing intelligent suggestions to the users regarding the reading material they prefer to read during their leisure time
Research component 02: Design consideration and modeling of user-centered task-oriented conversation system by observing user behavior for long term human-robot interactions
Outcome: A task-oriented conversation management system using a novel method of hierarchical state transition network with a state switching algorithm for changing between interaction modes for a user-caring information gathering
Research component 03: Identify the significance of context-aware conversation in everyday domestic environment and methods for updating known information in a regular conversation through interacting with the users
Outcome: A context-aware conversation management system suitable for domestic service robots with a response cloud structure for dynamically updating the unknown information about the user by interacting with the user
