What is HOAPnetwork?
We are an organization focused on building community amongst progressives in Central Alabama to facilitate support and increase effectiveness. We also maintain a resource list that we share with our community members.
Mission statement:
To bring together like-minded, progressive individuals in Central Alabama during a seemingly bleak time in our political climate in America. We aim to bring hope to those who are despairing, provide a wealth of resources to those who want to impact marginalized groups, organize individuals to affect legislative change, and create a safe community for those whose values support equality for all people.
What does HOAP stand for?
H - Hope: it can feel hopeless being progressive in a red state, so we aim to highlight all of the many organizations and individuals who are focused on progressive values and missions in the region. So many people are fighting the good fight, and things are not as bleak as they may seem.
O - Organization: while our state is majority red, there are 1000's of people who believe in equality for all people, and we seek to bring them together so that they can experience community.
A - Action: many people feel an urge to help in these dark times, but don't know where to start. We want to showcase a wide array of opportunities for volunteer work, monetary contributions, and other ways people can get involved.
P - Policy: our ultimate goal is to see actual legislative change that supports our beliefs in equality and freedom. We want to empower our community members to maximize their influence on our government.
