I work with individuals and businesses dealing with HMRC enquiries, investigations and disputes. Much of my work involves situations where HMRC assumptions have hardened into positions that feel difficult to shift, often years after the relevant events. I also support accountants and lawyers on HMRC related issues for their clients, working collaboratively where matters become complex or contentious.
I previously worked inside HMRC as a Senior Inspector of Taxes, where I co-led a national compliance team of over 400 staff. I also managed the sensitive case register within frontline compliance, which involved working with vulnerable individuals and particularly complex cases. That experience gave me a detailed understanding of how cases are developed internally, how decisions are made, and where process can start to override judgement.
After leaving HMRC, I built and led tax disputes teams in a top 10 professional services firm and now run my own practice. My work spans everything from voluntary disclosures and enquiries through to COP9 and international tax disputes. I am a Chartered Tax Adviser, which is relatively uncommon in the disputes space and reflects my focus on technical rigour alongside practical handling.
Alongside disputes, I also advise on structuring and complex tax positions, with a focus on ensuring they are compliant with UK tax law and robust if ever scrutinised. For many clients, having that comfort upfront makes a significant difference.

This is intended for sensitive matters and initial triage only. I can’t provide advice at this stage and I can’t take on every case.
