Bikash Shaw is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, India. Currently, he is also affiliated to the University of Cambridge, England, as a Royal Society Newton Alumni Fellow (2024-2025). He completed his PhD from IACS, India in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Shyamal Saha. After his PhD, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Stuttgart (Germany), IISER Kolkata (India), Lehigh University (USA). In 2018, he was awarded DST Inspire Faculty. In the same year, he was also awarded the prestigious Royal Society Newton International Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, England, where he worked with Prof. Thomas Bennett from 2019-2021 as a Newton Fellow. Later, he was awarded another prestigious international fellowship by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Technical University Munich (TUM), Germany, where he worked with Dr. Gregor Kieslich from 2022-2024 as a Humboldt Fellow. Bikash's research interest lies in the field of solid- and liquid- state materials chemistry, functional hybrid organic-inorganic materials for device applications such as waste-heat energy harvesting Thermoelectrics. His strong track record is evidenced in the publication of several high impact journals including Nature Chemistry, Chemical Science, etc.
During postdoc research, Bikash has visited various national labs in USA and perform several X-ray total scattering experiments with beamline scientists. He recently also awarded a beamline slot at Diamond Beamline I15-1, Oxford.
Bikash has received several international awards in his research career such as prestigious Newton (2018) and Humboldt fellowships (2020). He was invited to the induction meeting at The Royal Society London in 2019 and in Humboldt Foundation ceremony in Rostock, Germany in 2022. He has also participated in several national and international conferences.
